Funky Friday
Hey everyone, I was hoping to have stories to share with you from the Linkin Park concert last night but it was cancelled. Needless to say we were all quite bummed, especially Kim as this was the one concert that she has wanted to go to for years. Hoping maybe they come back around the DC area so we can make that happen for her. I am here tonight to finish off the Immortals After Dark series week. If you don't know already the next book in the series, Dreams of a Dark Warrior, comes out on Tuesday. So I am going to finish this week off the last book that came out, Demon from the Dark. If you have not figured out yet we are all HUGE fans of the series and really cannot say enough good things about it. So if you want a series that will make you laugh and want to paint your toes and buy trashy lingerie if you are looking for a series that has hunky alpha males and snarky kick ass heroines then look no further because you have found it.
Demon from the Dark, Kresley Cole, Pocket, August 2010
Malkom Slaine: tormented by his sordid past and racked by vampiric hungers, he’s pushed to the brink by the green-eyed beauty under his guard.
Carrow Graie: hiding her own sorrows, she lives only for the next party or prank. Until she meets a tortured warrior worth saving.
In order for Malkom and Carrow to survive, he must unleash both the demon and vampire inside him. When Malkom becomes the nightmare his own people feared, will he lose the woman he craves body and soul?
Malkom is a demon with trust issues. His mother sold him to a vampire as a blood slave, his best friend betrays him and all his fellow demons want to kill him for becoming the very thing he has been fighting against for years. Malkom is the legend even other legends don't believe exist, he is a half demon/half vampire he is a Vemon. He has been living alone for hundreds of years in the demon plane Oblivion waiting for his chance at vengeance.
Carrow is a witch who has been captured like several other members of the Lore by The Order and is being forced to travel to the demon plane. She has one week to bring back the vemon. When she first encounters the vemon he is covered in blood and dirt and grime and although he scares her she is also attracted to him. While getting him to bathe and learning how to communicate Carrow begins to fall for Malkom but to save Ruby a young witch from her coven she is going to have to betray him, and that is the one thing that Malkom will never be able to forgive.
Those of you that are long time series readers know that not every book in a series can be a homerun but I have yet to read a book in this series that I didn't want to pick up and read again. I had doubts going into this book because I wanted it to be about other characters from the series but it turned out to be one of my favorites. This book is very much a Beauty and the Beast story and that was always one of my favorites when I was little. It also sets up several new secondary characters that I can't wait to read more about. This book moves us another step closer to the Accession and gives us another enemy to focus on. I give Demon from the Dark 5 chocolate dipped strawberries and hope for you all that like me this little trip down IAD memory lane has wet you whistle for the release of Dreams of a Dark Warrior next week.
