The Southern Gentleman: Protective Instinct by Sweden Reese is one of the best domestic discipline books I've ever read. It's spankingly delicious!

Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. Nolan and Lola hooked me from their first introductions in the book, but then once they finally meet, the chemistry takes hold and I couldn't put it down. With the political landscape that is the setting for the book and those trying to hurt Lola, the tempo is quick paced and makes for an exciting story. And as the two main characters make their way across country, the slow build up and gradual development of a relationship is enticing. There's no rush here as they come to know one another - there's an obvious attraction heightened by the sexual tension that builds between them.

Nolan's belief in the man's role as head of household both bothers and intrigues Lola. Since she's not the meek daughter of a presidential candidate we might first think, she challenges Nolan. You know what they say about those who protest too much... anyway seeing Nolan provide a structure that allows Lola to reach her potential -to see them give into their desires fully- is what I'm most excited about for the next book.

Be ready for a provocative cliffhanger. But then exciting news! The author published both books simultaneously -such a smart move more authors should consider- so you'll be able to start reading right away. Which is just what I'm off to do now... book two, here I come!

Alpha is Amazing! So freaking hot and equally sweet in certain moments, the tension boils off the pages. The chemistry between Zane and Aria is undeniable. The story line is just so tight, every scene mattered and played into the next. I couldn't put it down because I needed to know the truth behind their pasts. And in the end, it unraveled without being overdone or too simple. It is simply perfect.

I hope this will be the beginning of a series. I want to know about Fly, and this has so much potential to be a top shifter series.

REVIEW
Captive Mine was delicious kinkery. Though not as dark as I expected, the sex was hot, hot, hot. Written in both first person (Lily) and third person (Lake), the style was unique and may be a result of the two writers collaborating. The characters are well developed and their interactions felt authentic.

The major disappointment is in the suspense. There was a disconnect for me with the reason Lily was Lake's captive at all. At first, he's her bodyguard but planning to double-cross her. Then he decides to protect her instead. To protect her, he needs her compliance which explains the D/s but when he should be planning the escape -maybe even doing the training he gives her towards the end all along, Lake has her locked in a room treating her as a sex slave. Then without explanation, he releases her just as the danger nears. It just felt like I was missing something.

This book was a hot quick read. I wish there had been more story development. There were places in the story that I still wish I knew more about but, that being said, I liked Lexi and Bobby together. He was not what I expected and the addition of the secondary characters made him warmer.

The best part was really the sexual tension between Bobby and Lexi. It was palpable from their very first meeting and their interactions were wicked hot. When Lexi moves from a ‘goomah’ to an important part of Bobby’s life, that's when I'm sold on them as a couple. Lust transforms to love.

The final book in Bristol's Breeder series brings an end to the war but the beginning to new love. I'd been waiting eagerly for Anika's story and was surprised by her story. It was nothing like I'd expected but everything I found intriguing. She was strong in a society that doesn't traditionally honor this in women but ultimately, she saved their world from the destruction of a would-be dictator. I loved the bad-ass heroine perspective! The end of the war and the opportunity of new society rules allowed Anika to find her HEA with Urazi, a Beta she could never before have mated with. The story was written tightly, in the author's typical style, so that every scene led towards the conclusion in a purposeful way.

As with other novellas in this anthology, the humor and writing are well done but this story ran hoo-boy hot!

5. Hell Is Where The Heart Is by Eden Winters

Oh what a tangled web we weave....What's a sixth level demon and son of The Queen to do when he's forced to marry and have little demons of his own? He drowns his sorrows in his lower level demon, slacks off and plays video games... Filled with more humor and hot demon sex, who doesn't love an HEA in Hell?

6. Ninja, Vanish by Kiernan Kelly

Power Rangers meets Faust....sort of. A little campy, a little corny but still entertaining - who wouldn't appreciate a naked man showing up with a special contract? Probably someone who wants to use his powers for good, rather than evil!

REVIEW
The Bossman caught my attention immediately. The cover, the blurb and, oh yeah, a hot Mafia man who spanks? Hello, ultimate dominant male. I nearly shook with excitement as I began reading! Then I held on for a fast ride because the story goes quick. While it's not insta-love and Sophie fights the attraction for a bit, she still gives in relatively quickly. And the pages are nearly flamable with the attraction between Joey and Sophie. They deal with their share of drama without overdoing the angst.

It's a short read that definitely would've benefited from being longer though. Time lapses seem a bit abrasive without smooth transitions and some of the timing feels a bit off but mostly, the story needed more. Despite enjoying the love story between Joey and Sophie, the potential of what could've been -the drama and intrigue of the mafia- was always on my mind. As is, the Bossman just didn't live up to my expectations... and maybe those were too high.

It was a nice domestic discipline romance that's worth the read. And if the author ever expanded it into a full mafia spanking series, I'd be sure to re-read it because Rose is an excellent author and this story has huge potential.

REVIEW: Marked by the Alpha was a short novella that might've taken on too much. There just weren't enough pages - enough words - to fully evolve the story. I was left with questions about character motivation, especially as the societal norms played out in the pack. Since I couldn't understand their motivations, I never found myself connecting with Dani or Mason, or really the secondary characters. Maybe there is more to come - a future book in the series that will explain their culture more or the author will follow this trend of putting out a prequel - which might make this feel more fulfilling and satisfying. As is, it was a nice read. And, of course, the spanky scenes were sexy, sexy.

I nearly drove off the road listening to Daddy Morebucks (Daddy's Girl #1) by Normandie Alleman on audiobook. The narrator, Alicyn Aimes, has the voice of a seductress.

From the moment she laid eyes upon him, Marley knew in her heart that James was not just another client, and the difference wasn’t even the large sum of money he offered in return for a single night of submission. No, what set him apart was the fact that when she called James “daddy”, it was her own heart which beat faster and her own body which ached with need.

After that night, Marley does her best to put all thought of him behind her, using the huge payday he provided to get on her feet again and start over… until James knocks on her door and walks right back into her life. He makes her a simple offer: if she will live with him and submit to him whenever he wishes, he will provide for her every desire.

Even before she accepts his offer, though, Marley knows what she truly wants is not money or clothing or even a fancy new car. What she longs for is a daddy who will give his little girl what she really needs… a daddy who will spank her bare bottom when she is naughty, tie her up and take her any way he pleases, and then cuddle her until she falls asleep in his arms. Can she dare to hope that James will be that daddy?

REVIEW: I'll admit that the title sounded a bit trite when I first saw it but the blurb caught my attention. I was intrigued by the story line. I've read thousands of books, from young adult to erotica, but not very many that dealt with Age Play - you know, the daddy/ little girl fantasy. And I am so glad this was one of the first because it was done in a respectful, romantic way. The concept was laid out for the reader in the context of a loving relationship and as the scenes rolled, explanations were hidden within the descriptions. The author clearly conveyed the motivations of the characters and endeared them to the reader... or uhm, the listener.

The addition of all the secondary characters, especially the Daddy's Girl Club, made me yearn for a group of friends like that. They were great and added another dimension to the story that made it seem so much more real. I wish I knew more about each of them.

I can't review this book without saying it was freaking hot. It was sexy deliciousness as the narrator brought the story to life. Each time she said "daddy" or "doll", my knees shook. Seriously, listeners will feel the emotions come through in this audiobook.

I am sold. When is the next Daddy's Girl book coming out??

BOOK #REVIEW: Quintessentially Q by @PepperWinters

Quintessentially Q (Monsters in the Dark #2) by Pepper Winters battled every belief I had in humanity.

REVIEW: Holy Hell! This story was a terrifying trip to hell and back, in the most unlikeliest of ways. Nothing about the book was predictable and I read through gritted lips as the absolute worst case scenarios played out.

Quintessentially Q was heart-wrenching, gut-clenching romance in the darkest sense. These two people's love -albeit so very different from the norm- was incredibly strong and deep. Their dark place they find with one another is a place of redemption for two floating souls... so, so beautifully overwhelming.

Yet there were so many times when I paused to question my own sanity that I understood their motives. Then there were the doubts of humanity itself at such acts as Tess endured in her captivity, acts that had me murmuring "holy shit, holy shit, holy shit" as I read. The moments between Tess and Quincy were amazing though, and the author's ability to convey their needs was nothing short of masterful. These characters got each other, were made for one another and together, they made their world make sense. I can't wait for the next book!!

Here's the line that has stayed with me since reading the final page...

"I asked you once to give me your pain as my pleasure. this time take my pain as your pleasure."

REVIEW: Tears of Tess captured me from the very moment I began reading. There wasn't a single moment that didn't hold my attention. It was gritty and, at times, tough to read, but it felt authentic - as if I were not reading fiction. The story was so vivid in its telling, there were times when I could hear the scary music in the background as I waited for what was to come. Then there were parts I didn't quite understand but the author made it clear by drawing a picture with her words and making me see the connectedness.

This book was masterfully written.

REVIEW
I'm a devoted fan of Kenner's books. I adored the her Release Me series and had high expectations for this series. I'm so happy to say she met those expectations and then some. I was hooked from the very beginning.

Set within this shady business background that held mystery and danger, the focus still remained on the couple. While they've known one another for a long time, they've maintained distance since the intention was for them to be more like siblings than lovers. But when their situation changes, their attraction soars.

Kenner masterfully provides an intriguing love story that is both sweet and spicy. Angelina and Evan are likable characters and as the sexual tension coils, it nearly palpitates off the page. Their relationship is complex in so many ways but is presented with clarity. The reasoning behind the intricacies of their physical relationship captured my attention - I think it was how the author presented it. Regardless, this couple belonged together and were so well crafted.

Everything falls into place nicely by the end which is a good change from all these three-part series when you have to wait for the HEA, I suspect each book in this series will have an HEA for each couple. Thanks, Ms. Kenner! I can't wait for the next.
