Stand to Attention Anthology @Totally_Bound #REVIEW #HAHAT

Stand to Attention, by Sean Michael, Jambrea Jo Jones, Lily Harlem, Elizabeth Coldwell, Noelle Keaton, Lucy Felthouse, Totally Bound
‘Almost' by Sean Michael
Lane lost his legs while saving his unit overseas. It’s been two years and he’s doing his best to come to terms with things, including the fact that he dumped his lover to free the man up from being stuck with a gimp for the rest of his life. Luckily, Lane inherited his Gramps’ cottage — it just needs some renovations to make it wheelchair friendly. He’s determined to make the best of what he’s got.

Hammer was one of the men Lane saved… and his lover while they were in the army together. He let Lane drive him away back when the man first got hurt, but now he’s hunting Lane, determined to make Lane the one who almost got away. Will Lane be able to see past his legs far enough to realise Hammer’s in it for the long haul?

Review:
"You're my Laney. And I'm fucking taking you back." That was the moment when I became fully invested in this story and these two men. Fabulous story about a second chance and dealing with the realities of life when things break bad. Hammer walked away from Lane once but he isn't taking no for an answer this time. A stubborn soldier is exactly what Lane needs in his life. Heartwarming and emotional. I loved it.

‘On the Home Front' by Jambrea Jo Jones
Peter "Bulldog" Jakes killed his mother. People tell him it isn't his fault, but he is just as guilty as if he pulled the trigger. Bulldog knew being in the Army Special Forces would eventually hurt his family.

Moby Edwards' heart aches for his First Sergeant and he wants to help, but Bulldog blows him off — every time.

When Bulldog is forced to take leave, Moby follows, but will things out of their control ruin what could be the healing power of friends turned into lovers?

Review:
Bulldog's life just imploded. He has just been informed that his mother was murdered and he has to go home and see to his niece Annabeth. When he arrives he finds that his brother and sister-in-law have been killed as well and while the cops think they are just random, Bulldog doesn't believe in coincidence. Thankfully he has the help of his teammate Moby.

Moby just wants to be there for the man that owns his heart. He has been attracted to Bulldog from the beginning but never acted upon his feeling until now. there is no way he will let the man deal with the death of his family by himself.

When bulldog finally lets himself act upon his feelings will he win everything or lose it all?

Great story with a fabulous epilogue.

‘Who Dares Wins' by Lily Harlem
Waiting for my SAS husband Jack to come home safe and sound is always a gut-wrenching, heart-twisting time. I have no idea where he is, what jungle swamp he may be lying out in or desert he might be marching across.

So naturally when he returns to me, our emotions can't fail to run hot and our lust for each other cranks up to sky-high levels. But the one thing about Jack is he lives for the extreme and seizes the moment. I really should have known what would come of me telling him my wildest fantasies.

Review:
Hot, Hot Hot. Ken's fantasies come true when his Master and partner of eight years brings home a fellow soldier for a little homecoming fun.

I don't know if there is a book about how Jack and Ken meet and fall in love but I for one would LOVE to read it. Great chemistry between the three men and I am thinking a holiday reunion story would be smokin.

‘An Act of Duty' by Elizabeth Coldwell

For Corporal Mark Stockdale, a trip to Amsterdam won’t just provide some much-needed R and R away from the horrors of the Afghanistan battlefield — it’s also a way of keeping a promise to a fallen comrade. But violence has a way of seeking Mark out, even in the most peaceful of locations, and when he stops for a drink in a quiet bar, he finds himself stepping in to help its owner, Robin Sneijder, fight off a group of opportunist thieves. Robin shows his gratitude, and Mark is stunned by the depth of the passion between them, and when Mark wakes in the night from a vivid nightmare of the attack that killed his best friend, Ozzy, Robin is there to comfort him.

Review:
On a trip to Amsterdam on leave Mark steps in and helps a bartender who  is being robbed. Violence seems to follow Mark and the memories and feelings of losing his best friend coming rushing back to the surface. Thankfully Robin knows just how to soothe Mark. After a weekend of friendship and one hot night of role-playing Mark has to return to duty will they bond the two men developed be strong enough to sustain them while they are apart?

Nice story that you can tell either the is either from Amsterdam or has done some research.

‘Trusting the Army Captain' by Noelle Keaton
Ambitious army captain, Patrick Bosworth, is eager to advance in his career so that he can live up to his family’s distinguished legacy. But having been passed over for promotion to major twice already, Patrick fears his career has stalled.

When a superior office suggests a way to get the promotion that involves gathering information on a fellow army captain in the Medical Corps, Patrick reluctantly agrees to participate. He regrets the assignment almost immediately, especially when he falls for Craig, the guy he’s supposed to be investigating.

When he forms a passionate and intense bond with Craig, Patrick finds it difficult to separate where his professional obligations end and his personal feelings begin. After working for so long to prove himself a worthy member of his accomplished military family, Patrick has to decide if finally finding the love of his life is worth sacrificing advancement in the army, or even giving up his career itself.

Review:
Trying to live up to the family name almost cost Patrick the most important thing. His relationship with Craig started on a lie but the feelings that grew from that first night were very real. Once Craig learns the truth can they ever really get past it?

I really enjoyed this story and would have liked for it to have been longer. This is the first book by this author for me but I will be checking out more.

'Letters to a War Zone' by Lucy Felthouse

When lonely insurance broker, Bailey, gets himself a new hobby, he ends up exchanging letters with a war zone. But he’s not expecting what happens next...

Bailey Hodgkiss is lonely and dissatisfied with his boring life as an insurance broker. In an attempt to shake things up a little, he signs up to a website to write to serving soldiers. He’s put in touch with Corporal Nick Rock, and over the course of a couple of letters, the two of them strike up a friendship. They begin to divulge things that they perhaps wouldn’t have said in person, including their preference for men.

Nick encourages Bailey to add more interests to his life. As a result, Bailey picks up his forgotten hobby, photography, and quickly decides to team it up with his other preferred interest, travel.

Booking a holiday to Rome is his biggest gesture towards a more exciting existence, and he eagerly looks forward to the trip. That is, until Nick says he’s coming home on leave, and it looks as though their respective trips will prevent them from meeting in person. Is there enough of a spark between them to push them to meet, or will their relationship remain on paper only?

Review:
Bored and kind of lonely Bailey decides to join a site that matches up soldiers with civilians. After penning his first letter Bailey isn't expecting much but is pleasantly surprised by the reply he gets from Nick. After a few months and a few letters of encouragement from Nick, Bailey has booked his first vacation in forever...the only problem is that Nick will be coming home then and Bailey hates the thought of missing seeing then man that jumped started his life again.

Quick, heartwarming read about the connection people can make through letters.

If Wishes Were Horses by @Silvia_Violet #REVIEW #HAHAT #ULTIMATEINDULGENCE

If Wishes Were Horses, Silvia Violet, Silvia Violet Books
Kenneth Carver had everything growing up except warmth and acceptance. When protecting his family’s name became more than he could bear, he came out as gay, sold his company, and bought a horse ranch.

Andrew Wofford's last undercover assignment nearly cost him his sanity. Now he has another chance of catching the drug runner who killed one of his informants and then escaped, but gruesome flashbacks threaten his ability to function in the field.

Andy’s latest investigation sends him to Ken’s ranch where he poses as a ranch hand. Ken is a prime suspect, but Andy refuses to believe Ken is guilty, in part because Andy is falling for him. Ken knows Andy isn’t who he seems, but he can’t bring himself to push the man away. When Ken hears rumors that someone is using his land to move drugs out of the city, he worries that it’s Andy. Neither man can trust the other even though that’s exactly what their hearts tell them to do.

REVIEW:
WOW....I had to put my Nook down a couple of times and step away because I was afraid it was going to burst into flames! The chemistry between Ken and Andy is off the charts combustible! The want and the need that these two men have for each other pulsates from the pages.

Ken has a hard time trusting. When you have been burned by your family, the people that you should be able to trust wholly, it makes it almost impossible to let down your guard. But there is something about Andy that calls to him and makes him want to take a chance.

Andy has been working undercover for to long. His last assignment broke bad and he still hasn't gotten over it. Dealing with PTSD and an almost suicidal attitude is not a healthy way to start an new job but he is determined to catch the man that eluded him before. He wants the job done but walking away from Ken may break him quicker than the job ever could.

Silvia Violet brings theses two broken men together and then makes them get real. Their feelings are hard and at times violent but they both give each other exactly what they didn't know they needed.

If you are looking for light and funny and sweet...this is not the book for you but if you want something real and gritty and visceral then yeah you are going to want to grab this one! The characters are fully dimensional and the story is fast paced and well written. This one is a keeper!

BUTT NINJAS FROM HELL #HAHAT #REVIEW #BLOG HOP #WILDE CITY

Porn stars, holy emissaries, demons, and even just plain humans—ninjas come in all forms and from all kinds of Hell in this erotically charged comedic Wilde City anthology! Whether it’s the world of second-rate television, fluttering ninja stars, obsessions over a bronzy-olive toned soldier, or magic backsides, your authorial guides will take you where few readers have ever dared to go…without protection.

You’ll Never Hear Them Coming!

BUTT NINJAS FROM HELL, anthology by authors: Kage Alan, JP Barnaby, Ally Blue, TC Blue, Shae Connor, Jevocas Green, Kiernan Kelly and Eden Winters

1. Clean Up On Aisle Me by Shae Connor

Jonny works as a sales associate in a Halloween store when he sees a ninja appear and disappear, repeatedly. Like a wacky Men in Black tale, complete with hell gates and ninjas trying to stop demons from wreaking havoc, uber geek survives to fight another day

2. Sheathing His Sword by JP Barnaby

Ninja porn. Enough said. Seriously funny, porn versus parental antics. JP Barnaby manages to mix reality and hilarity in this novella.

3. Twink Ninja Tiger, Flaxen Buns Of Fury by Kage Alan

High on a mountain top, ninjas go to train....and make the reader crack up the entire time. At times to0 subtle or complex to completely understand, still too full of snark and humor to not appreciate over all. (seriously, who can't giggle over the author's cleverly created Aligned Ninja Agreement List of Relevant Operating Directives aka A.N.A.L.R.O.D. - now that's just funny!)

4. Twerk It by Ally Blue

I always knew Satan was a woman! Hell hath no fury and all that....Hugo is a demon hunter, tasked with eliminating a demon called L'Loushe. Hell Kitty manages to provide sex-eriously distraction. As with other novellas in this anthology, the humor and writing are well done but this story ran hoo-boy hot!

5. Hell Is Where The Heart Is by Eden Winters

Oh what a tangled web we weave....What's a sixth level demon and son of The Queen to do when he's forced to marry and have little demons of his own? He drowns his sorrows in his lower level demon, slacks off and plays video games... Filled with more humor and hot demon sex, who doesn't love an HEA in Hell?

6. Ninja, Vanish by Kiernan Kelly

Power Rangers meets Faust....sort of. A little campy, a little corny but still entertaining - who wouldn't appreciate a naked man showing up with a special contract? Probably someone who wants to use his powers for good, rather than evil!

7. The Soldier And The Vagabond by Jevocas Green

Homeless boy meets Ninja who saves him twice. Falls for Ninja and becomes his. Spanky goodness for those who partake and very well written, just a bit rushed from start to finish.

8. A Ninja Walks Into A Bar by T.C. Blue

Party boy meets Demon. Sexy and well crafted with seriously butt kicking characters and hard driving dialogue that brings wit and humor across to keep the reader turning each page for more.

Overall, this anthology is everything I've come to expect from Wilde City books - their authors are highly talented, seriously snarky and deliver on smexy M/M delights. Read it for the stories or just the anthology title - you won't be disappointed.

RATING: Four Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries! This book was given to us by the publisher for an unbiased review. Many thanks.

Emergency Servicing #HAHAT #REVIEW #GIVEAWAY @Totally_Bound

Emergency Servicing

Eleanor Bruce, Elizabeth Coldwell, H.L. Holston, Noelle Keaton, A.J. Llewellyn, Serena Yates, Sara York

'Down to Earth' by Elizabeth Coldwell

When Ryan's life comes crashing down, can the hottest nurse he's ever met help put it back together again?

It started out the happiest day of Ryan Johnson's life. At breakfast, his long-time boyfriend Craig accepted his proposal that they enter a civil partnership, and in the afternoon he's making a parachute jump—a surprise organised by his new fiancé. But when his chute fails to open, experienced skydiver Ryan finds himself in the hospital, in traction and not going anywhere for a while…and everything starts to fall apart.

High-maintenance Craig doesn't seem to want to be there for him anymore, but down-to-earth Luke—the hottest male nurse Ryan has ever seen—is determined to help him make a full recovery…and maybe even win his heart in the process…

'Please, Doctor' by Serena Yates

Patrick McNeill is obsessed with doctors. A serious-looking man in a white coat gets him hot enough to do…anything to please the physician.

Doctor Russell Walters is a successful emergency physician at the Royal Winkham Hospital during the day…and an occasional expert for a medical fetish club at night. He's only doing his best friend and club owner a favour—until he sees Patrick walk into their pretend clinic. The gorgeous brunet who casts shy glances at him inspires Russell to put his best bedside manner forward. Suddenly he is the one who wants to play doctor!

The 'medical examination' that follows is definitely not authentic—but who cares when both participants find more satisfaction in one another's arms than either thought possible…

Reader Advisory: This book may be hazardous to your health! Do not read if allergic to any of the following: unauthorized use of medical equipment, misappropriated procedures, or a significant dose of kinky sex between an extremely hot physician and his very eager patient.

'Roley's Wood' by A.J. Llewellyn

When Dr Jack Hanrahan set out for a much needed vacation, he had no idea his life would forever change on a remote biking trail in Roley's Wood…

Jack Hanrahan is a California surgeon taking a brief cycling vacation with friends in Edinburgh, Scotland. A woman's scream shatters his peaceful ride in the recently cleaned up Roley's Wood.

He and his best friend, Paul, a heart surgeon, race towards the sound. They find a woman lying on the ground, clinging to life, an arrow sticking out of her body. Jack and Paul have no way of knowing that she disappeared weeks ago and has been the subject of a huge manhunt. They try to help her, working on her frantically until they are able to call for help but by the time they reach the hospital, it's too late.

In the confusion, they realise whoever fired at her must have been an onlooker because the arrow Paul took out of the victim is missing. How could they have not noticed the killer sneaking back to remove it?

The case soon lands in the procurator fiscal's hands. Jack has never heard of this but soon finds that the man in question is the very sexy public prosecutor Brodie Shaw, who promptly asks Jack for help in the twisty mystery as they begin to fall in love with each other…

'Love Without Borders' by Sara York

Work brought them to the jungle, lust brought them together. But staying together may prove too difficult a task.

Jason believes the attraction he has for Doctor David Blankenship will never be more than lustful dreams until David shows up at the firehouse, asking Jason to travel to Guatemala with him for a charity trip. Excited that they'll be working together, Jason is ultimately disappointed because their schedules are too hectic for them to even speak to each other.

Then magic happens when David seeks out Jason on the third night in the jungle giving both of them a taste of paradise. With the ice broken, David plans some time alone. But David's ex wants to derail Jason and David's relationship. Insecurities eat away at Jason, leaving their relationship hanging in the balance.

'Doctor, Doctor' by HL Holston & Eleanor Bruce

Chief Petty Officer Daniel Stewart has a problem, namely Dr Ryker Kincaid. Secret lovers for a year, is their romance doomed when Ryker decides to leave the Navy?

Daniel Stewart, Chief Petty Officer and dedicated Corpsmen, works at the Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy where he carries around two big secrets—one, he's gay, and two, he's in love with a very sexy Navy doctor, Ryker Kincaid, who he's been having an affair with for a year. Yes, Don't Ask, Don't Tell may be gone, but military rules that prevent officers and enlisted from dating are still in place. When Ryker elects to leave the Navy after his current tour is up, all of Daniel's future plans for their careers are blown to bits and causes Daniel to spiral out of control. Will Daniel's rash decision cost them everything or push their relationship to the next level?

'Trusting the ER Doctor's Heart' by Noelle Keaton

After his last relationship resulted in a nasty break-up, the last thing emergency room physician Kyle Montgomery is looking for is another romance. Yet when he meets hunky paramedic Trent Jones, Kyle cannot deny the immediate attraction and undeniable spark between them. As their love develops, Kyle begins to put the past behind him and focus on his burgeoning relationship with Trent.

Trent, who has been drawn to Kyle ever since he first laid eyes on him, can hardly believe the handsome and sophisticated physician would give him a second glance, much less return his feelings. Coming from a modest background, Trent wonders if he's in the same league as Kyle and if their relationship can go the distance.

When Kyle's former lover surfaces with allegations that cause Trent to question Kyle's true feelings and motivations, it is up to both men to take stock and decide whether theirs is a love worth fighting for, a love worth trusting in…

REVIEW:

I completely forgot I loved Medical themed romance stories until I read this fabulous anthology!  I thought, having worked in a hospital for more than a decade, doctors could have very little draw anymore.  Boy was I wrong!  Totally Bound delivers another amazing anthology filled with sexy doctors and nurses guaranteed to cure whatever ails you.

Consistently well written, each novella delivers novel length quality with captivating characters and fully developed romance story lines.  Be it military, mission, hospital or clinic - in the wilds of the jungle or the woods - these fine fellows know how to provide a hefty dose of sexual healing.  Touches of humor and raw emotion flesh out each tale, drawing the reader in and keeping them up way past bedtime.

I was pleased to reconnect with some favorite authors and find some new ones to love - always an opportunity with an anthology.  Each story left this reader with a sigh and a little wish that there might be more - also a very good sign since the best stories always leave you wanting to know what happens next!

#HAHAT Audiobook #REVIEWS @Dreamspinners @MjOsheaSeattle @Kate_Sherwood @DamonSuede

Hello. My Name is Rebecca and I'm Addicted to Audio Books.
Yes, I've now found a way to read every moment that I'm not asleep. Well, almost. Did you know you can do almost anything with an iPhone and one ear bud playing an audio book? I can cook, clean, garden and drive while enjoyed audio books. It's a revelation I'm still celebrating!

In honor of The Hop Against Homophobia #HAHAT, here are the three latest M/M Romance Audio Books I've listened to... all provided by Dreamspinner in exchange for an honest review. (I love Dreamspinner! Its my go-to source for m/m romance.)

Coming Home by MJ O'Shea

Tallis Carrington ruled Rock Bay with his gang of jocks and an iron fist-until a scandal destroyed his family's name. Ten years later Tallis is dead broke, newly homeless, and on the walk of shame to end all walks of shame. He needs money and needs it fast, and Rock Bay is the only home he knows. But the people of Rock Bay haven't forgotten him-or the spoiled brat he used to be. The only person in town willing to overlook his past is Lex, the new coffee shop owner, who offers Tally a job even though he appears to despise Tally based on his reputation alone. When Tally discovers his gorgeous boss is the kid he tortured back in high school, Lex's hot and cold routine finally makes sense. Now Tally has to pull out all the stops to prove he was never really the jerk he seemed to be. After all, if he can win Lex's heart, the rest of the town should be a piece of coffee cake.
REVIEW
Part fun and flirty, part heat and passion, and part sadness and healing, MJ O'Shea created a blended perfection much like the coffee brewed in Rock Bay's coffee shop. The two men's journey to their HEA is unique and the author allows readers to feel the experiences with them. Coming Home is an engaging m/m new adult romance that has all the qualities necessary for a delicious read... or listen to.
The audio book was well done by a narrator who provided a gentle voice to the story.
RATING
4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

The Fall by Kate Sherwood

Every relationship leaves something behind. Dumped by his sugar daddy, part-time model Scott Mackenzie somehow ends up owning an abandoned church in rural Ontario. He dreams of using it for gay weddings, even if he’ll never have one of his own.
Joe Sutton is trying to keep his family together after his parents’ deaths. Between the family ranch, his brother’s construction company, and commitments around town, he doesn’t have time for a relationship. But Mackenzie is hard to ignore.
As both men fight their growing attraction, challenges to Mackenzie’s business threaten their relationship. If he can’t make it work, he’ll have to crawl back to the city in defeat. But the only solution involves risking the ranch Joe loves, and each man has to decide how much he’ll sacrifice for the other.
REVIEW
I adored Kate Sherwood's Dark Horse series and jumped at the chance to listen to one of her audio books. True to her writing style, the story had smooth pacing with an almost-painfully slow and gradual build-up. With some quirky characters thrown in and a few one-liners, The Fall is a tender tale of two men finding their true paths and discovering those paths can intertwine. I hope we have more stories about them and their family.
The narrator gave a solid performance, bringing a gentle voice to this beautiful love story.
RATING
4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

Bad Idea by Damon Suede

Some mistakes are worth making.
Reclusive comic book artist Trip Spector spends his life doodling super-square, straitlaced superheroes, hiding from his fans, and crushing on his unattainable boss until he meets the dork of his dreams. Silas Goolsby is a rowdy FX makeup creator with a loveless love life and a secret streak of geek who yearns for unlikely rescues and a truly creative partnership.
Against their better judgment, they fall victim to chemistry, and what starts as infatuation quickly grows tender and terrifying. With Silas’s help, Trip gambles his heart and his art on a rotten plan: sketching out Scratch, a “very graphic novel” that will either make his name or wreck his career. But even a smash can't save their world if Trip retreats into his mild-mannered rut, leaving Silas to grapple with betrayal and emotions he can't escape.
What will it take for this dynamic duo to discover that heroes never play it safe?
REVIEW
Damon Suede knows how to write. Honestly, I'm almost certain he has a magic pencil. His books have the perfect balance of humor, sensuality and romance. His vivid descriptions place readers right inside the story, leaving no chance to disengage. And holy hotness... there were some moments I most certainly did NOT want to stop reading! Once you begin the story, you are hooked. Suede brings his characters to life. Seriously, while listening to this book on audio, I could close my eyes and see the story playing out inside my head. I absolutely fell for the characters -with all their quirkiness and hangups- and connected on some level despite having nothing logically in common with them. I would've been like the married friend (who I also loved).
The narrator's voice kicked up the heat and must read all of Suede's books. It's panty-melting deliciousness.

The Best Revenge by @andrewgreybooks @dreamspinners #REVIEW #HAHAT

The Best Revenge by Andrew Gray
Bottled Up #1
Tyler O'Connor, a successful antiques dealer, meets aspiring artist Mark Burke when Mark's mother decides to sell some of her antiques collection. Tyler is enchanted by the quiet, reserved artist and works up the courage to ask Mark to dinner. Despite the date's success and their mutual attraction, Mark's happiness takes a blow when his mother learns that he is gay and throws him out of the house. Unsure of where to go, Mark shows up on Tyler's doorstep and finds shelter. Tyler's encouragement and support help kick-start Mark's career, especially when Mark finds that Tyler inspires him in the bedroom as well as the studio. But they're daunted when bad memories of the past, struggles in the present, and fear for the future strain Mark and Tyler's budding relationship. As the old saying goes, the best revenge is living well-and in this case-loving well, and with that in mind, Mark and Tyler go in search of happily ever after.

REVIEW:
When looking for a book this week I knew exactly what author I wanted to read but wasn't sure what book I wanted to choose. As I was surfing my Andrew Gray collection the words antiques and art caught my eye. Two things I know nothing about and I thought to myself this is it. I'm going to read this and broaden my horizons. Let me start off by saying this was a fantastic story. I very much enjoyed all the additional friends and family that were introduced throughout the story. A story is always more interesting and real when you see everyone connect even when some of them may not be friendly. It pains me when family turns their backs on one of their own for any reason but this story proved a point that you don't have to be blood to be family. This story also highlights that the right person can bring out the best in you and make all your dreams come true.

I give this book 4 chocolate dipped strawberries.
PEACE

A Reason to Stay by @Rjscott_author #REVIEW #HAHAT #ULTIMATEINDULGENCE

A Reason to Stay, RJ Scott, Love Lane Books
Heroes #1
When SEAL, Viktor Zavodny, left small town America for the Navy he made sure he never had a reason to return for anything other than visiting family. He wanted to see the world and fight for his country and nothing, or no one, was getting in his way. He fights hard, and plays harder, and a succession of men and women share his bed.

But a phone call from his sister has him using his thirty day down time to go home instead of enjoying his usual thirty nights of random sex and sleep.

What he finds is a mystery on the Green Mountains and the only man attempting to make sense of seemingly unrelated deaths. His childhood friend and first love... Lieutenant Aiden Coleman, Sheriff.

There were reasons Viktor left his home. Not least Aiden Coleman with his small town innocence and his dreams of forever. Now Adam and Viktor need to work together to save lives and prove there is a hero in all of us.

When it's done, if they make it out alive, can Aiden persuade Viktor that he has a reason to stay? Maybe forever?

REVIEW:
I have a confession to make...I have not read the Sanctuary books yet, but you can bet your sweet bippy that I am going to now! Having said that, it in no way took away from this fabulous first book in the spin off series.

Viktor is kind of an ass. LOL While at home on medical leave after an incident with an IED he reconnects with his high school crush. Now you would think that this would make it a sweet reunion kind of story but you would be wrong. Viktor left the younger Aiden after Aiden  had professed his love. OUCH! Now he's back and all grown up and so is Aiden, and he is thinking what a better way to spend my down time then with some no strings attached sex.

Aiden never really got over being rejected by Viktor when he was sixteen. Now back in his home town and a deputy sheriff who should he run into looking oh so yummy but the man himself. When Viktor proposes some sheet time Aiden thinks this will be the perfect way to get his fill and move on from the sexy Navy SEAL. Yeah..not so much.

Jump ahead two years and throw in some dead bodies and Viktor's nephew in the hospital and these two will have to put aside their animosity and work together. If not they could both lose everything.

These two were so hot together I am surprised my Nook didn't melt. They could go from pissed to naked in no time flat and it was amazing to read. The author is great at building a family around her characters so her stories are so much more then just two people coming together. A great start to this new series and I for one am looking forward to the next.

Before embarking on yet another international concert tour, he wanders into a bar in what he considers the middle of nowhere and meets a man who wins him over with his friendly smile and easy-going nature. Accountant slash bartender slash adventure-seeker Reg Moore has fun talking and drinking with The Jeremy Jameson and can’t say no when the supposedly straight rock star makes him a once in a lifetime offer: keep him company on his tour by playing the part of his boyfriend.

Listening to music, traveling the world, and jumping off cliffs is fun. Falling in love is even better. But to stay with Jeremy after the stage lights dim, Reg will need to help him realize there’s nothing pretend about their relationship.

REVIEW:
Jeremy Jameson may be 31 years old but he comes across as much younger and a bit naive for a rock star that's been in the lifestyle since he could hold a guitar. He has a sweet innocence about him.

Reg may be a bit younger than Jeremy but he is worlds ahead when it comes to life experience. He is a drifter just looking for the next adrenaline rush but what he is really looking for is someone that he can take care of. He needs someone to care for as much as Jeremy needs to be taken care of.

There are some very funny moments in this book...fleshlights...and the way that Reg just keeps pushing and waiting for that ah-ha moment cracked me up. There are also some very sensual moments and as always with this author they are beautifully written.

I appreciate that the author takes her time and fully develops her characters as individuals before they try to become a couple. This brings another layer to the storytelling and gives it a more real life feel. They deal with real stuff like paparazzi and betrayal the way that real rockers would. The only thing they didn't do was destroy a hotel room. LOL

This is a perfect lazy day read when you want something that will interest you but not overwhelm you with angst.

Tequila Mockingbird by @Rhys_Ford @dreamspinners #REVIEW #HAHAT #ULTIMATEINDULGENCE

Tequila Mockingbird, Rhys Ford, Dreamspinner
Sinners Gin #3
Lieutenant Connor Morgan of SFPD’s SWAT division wasn’t looking for love. Especially not in a man. His life plan didn’t include one Forest Ackerman, a brown-eyed, blond drummer who’s as sexy as he is trouble. His family depends on him to be like his father, a solid pillar of strength who’ll one day lead the Morgan clan.

No, Connor has everything worked out—a career in law enforcement, a nice house, and a family. Instead, he finds a murdered man while on a drug raid and loses his heart comforting the man’s adopted son. It wasn’t like he’d never thought about men — it’s just loving one doesn’t fit into his plans.

Forest Ackerman certainly doesn’t need to be lusting after a straight cop, even if Connor Morgan is everywhere he looks, especially after Frank’s death. He’s just talked himself out of lusting for the brawny cop when his coffee shop becomes a war zone and Connor Morgan steps in to save him.

Whoever killed his father seems intent on Forest joining him in the afterlife. As the killer moves closer to achieving his goal, Forest tangles with Connor Morgan and is left wondering what he’ll lose first—his life or his heart.

REVIEW:
The Morgan clan is back and this time we get to know Connor, the oldest, a bit better. The most interesting part of this for me is Connor trying to accept being gay, or bi-sexual if you prefer. It shows that even if you are raised in an open, accepting family sometimes we as individuals have trouble accepting truths about ourselves, and the expectations we believe that others have of us.

Forest had no trouble accepting he was gay, he just didn't believe he had any self worth. I don't know that I have read a character that needed someone to love him as much as Forest. Thankfully he had Frank, for a while, and when Connor comes into his life he has no idea what to think. My favorite part was watching him just suck up the love that Brigid offered like a sponge.

I have never wanted to crawl into a book and strangle someone as much as I did Ginger(I'm sorry but I can't even refer to her as Forest's mother). I had some serious loathing going on, and would love to see her locked in a room with Brigid for half an hour. A strong varied secondary cast with both good guys you will want to know more about... Quinn and Rafe and bad guys you can't wait to see get what's coming to them. The Morgans are one of those families that you just wish was real so you had the chance to somehow come into contact with them. Donal and Brigid are the sun and their family, both blood and chosen, gravitate around them with complete acceptance.

The author has done it again with a complex intriguing story line that explodes from the beginning and never slows down, she creates main characters that are likable and real and stories that keep you turning the pages. You will be hooked from page one.

The Devil's Brew by @Rhys_Ford @dreamspinners #REVIEW #HAHAT #ULTIMATEINDULGENCE

The Devil's Brew, Rhys Ford, Dreamspinner Press
Sinner's Gin #2.5
Miki St. John’s life has been turned upside down but it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him.

His best friend, Damien Mitchell, is back from the dead. He has a dog named Dude. And more importantly, he and his lover, SFPD Inspector Kane Morgan, now share Miki’s converted warehouse.

For the first time ever, Miki’s living a happy and normal-ish life but when Valentine’s Day rolls around, Miki realizes he knows next to nothing about being domestic or domesticated. Nothing about the traditional lover’s holiday makes sense to him but Miki wants to give Kane a Valentine’s Day the man will never forget.

Can he pull off a day of wine and roses? Or will his screwed up childhood come back and bite Miki in the ass?

REVIEW:
This novella set in the Sinner's Gin world features our favorite rockers and the men who love them. It's Valentine's Day and Miki is at a loss....he thought being gay meant he didn't have to worry about stuff like this.

This may be short but it is certainly not lacking in the story development department. This is a great peek into how much each couple has grown and how much their relationships have progressed. Miki may be feeling lost as to what he "thinks" he should be doing but in the end he is doing what is really important.

As a re-placed Californian it was nice to hear mentioned several places that I am familiar with, it made the story real for me because I could picture in my mind The Madonna Inn and their theme rooms and the central coast of California.

If you are a fan of Miki, Damien and the extended Morgan clan then this is one that you definitely don't want to miss. If you haven't read the first two then go and buy them now because this is a suspenseful, dramatic, fun, sexy series!

Always by @KindleAlexander #REVIEW #HAHAT

Always, Kindle Alexander
Born to a prestigious political family, Avery Adams plays as hard as he works. The gorgeous, charismatic attorney is used to getting what he wants, even the frequent one-night stands that earn him his well-deserved playboy reputation. When some of the most prominent men in politics suggest he run for senate, Avery decides the time has come to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. With a strategy in place and the campaign wheels rolling, Avery is ready to jump on the legislative fast track, full steam ahead. But no amount of planning prepares him for the handsome, uptight restaurateur who might derail his political future.

Easy isn't even in the top thousand words to describe Kane Dalton's life after his father, a devout southern Baptist minister, kicks him out of the family home for questioning his sexual orientation. Despite all the rotten tomatoes life throws his way, Kane makes something of himself. Between owning a thriving upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Minneapolis and managing his long-term boyfriend, his plate is full. He struggles to get past the teachings of his childhood to fully accept his sexuality and rid himself of the doubts brought on by his religious upbringing. The last thing he needs is the yummy, sophisticated, blond-haired distraction sitting at table thirty-four.

REVIEW:
I want to tell everyone the truth. You know when you read a lot of anything and it all becomes the same. You know what is going to happen before you turn the page or it’s just junk and the end comes and you want to throw the book on the floor. Yes, I do throw my IPad on the floor. I actually bought a good cover for it because I just can’t help it. So… I haven’t been reading a lot of books lately. I just felt like they were all the same and even the hot scenes just weren’t hot any more. Anyone that reads a lot gets there and it takes something different to pull you out of the funk you’re in… or maybe it’s the funk that the writers are in. Then I read ALWAYS! I have to tell you that the blurb really doesn’t do it justice. You would think this would be about Avery trying to get Kane to fall for him and (this being my first Kindle Alexander book) that there would be a happy ever after (read – I really don’t want to throw my IPad again). I realize now that this is what I don’t like about romance in a way. You fall in love with your characters and you wonder what happens next. Then you’re thrilled when they have a sequel and you get to read more but eventual the sequels get boring and you move on to something else just to have it  happen all over again.

Here comes a nice twist, it’s just brilliant!!! This book is Avery and Kane’s life together. It starts in the present and then goes back 40 years. You fall in love with both of the men as they fall in love with each other. Then instead of wondering what happen to them, Kindle moves you forward through their lives. Every chapter or two was another chapter of their life. I never read a book like this ever. Always is an old fashion, you complete me, love story. I am so glad that I didn’t realize there was a bunch of hype about the book. Reading it without knowing the whole story will make it that much better for you. You just need to know that this is a great read - no need for a sequel - beautiful romance that makes you believe in a love that can last for ALWAYS!! But make sure that you keep tissues nearby. I didn’t and was reading outside under the tree. I had nasty stuff dripping on my IPad and well let’s say that jacket couldn’t be worn again without going through the wash. A book is really great when you have to use your sleeve - Alot!!!! Sorry girl, I will listen to you next time. ALWAYS gets 4 chocolate dipped strawberries from me. Enjoy!

Spencer by @JPBarnaby @dreamspinners # REVIEW #HAHAT #SATURDAYSWITHSID

Spencer, J.P. Barnaby, Dreamspinner Press
Survivor Stories #3
It’s been nearly five years since Aaron woke up in the hospital so broken, he couldn’t stand the sight of his own face. The flashbacks no longer dominate his life, but he’s still unable to find intimacy with his lover, Spencer Thomas. With time, patience, and the support of his family, his therapist, and his loving partner, Aaron has figured out how to live again. The problem is, Spencer hasn’t. His life has been on hold as he waits for the day he and Aaron can have a normal relationship. Hoping to move things forward for them both, he takes a job as a programmer in downtown Chicago, leaving Aaron alone.
Reeling in the wake of Spencer’s absence, Aaron receives another shock when his attackers are caught.
Now, he must testify and verbalize his worst nightmare. Publicly reliving his trauma without Spencer at his side destroys his precarious control. But he finds someone who can understand and empathize in Jordan, who watched his brother cut down in a school shooting. With Spencer gone and the DA knocking at his door, Aaron seeks solace in Jordan, and Spencer will have to risk everything to hold on to Aaron’s love.

REVIEW
Aaron and Spencer are two of the most gut-wrenching books I’ve ever read, but I’m better for reading them. Its sobering to realize sometimes that not all romance is pretty and not all happy endings come with the prince and the castle; at least not the fairy tale versions of prince and castle. Spencer is real life y’all and sometimes that real life just sucks. Its filled with pain, anger, and sadness, yet sometimes it all works out in the end. Even after all the angst and sadness, Spencer is about the triumph of the human spirit and a testament that love does conquer all things. As the Beatles sang: All you need is love, love, love is all you need…” If you haven’t read Spencer AND Aaron, you need to. Pick them up, read them and let both characters in your heart. You won’t ever let them go.

RATING
4 oooey gooey strawberries dipped in chocolate for JP Barnaby’s Spencer and a job very, very well done!

Until Forever Comes #HAHAT

Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia

Ladies and gentlemen - readers of all ages....Guilty Indulgence Book Club is pleased to participate once again in the annual Hop Against Homophobia And Transphobia (#HAHAT for those social media savvy) Last year we reviewed some great books and paid tribute to a beautiful author who left us too soon.  This year we look forward to bringing more great authors, stories and romances to our Indulgent readers.

While our book club has that modern mix of women and men, straight and gay, our focus has always been on romance and Love in all its forms.  One of the most important aspects of Love has to be it's connection to Hope. For those who have Love, who love and are, in turn, loved, Hope resides in the heart and mind.  Hope allows one to celebrate the good times and weather the bad ones. Hope allows one to succeed and to fight and to give others Hope.   For many GLBTQ youth, Hope is hard to find.   It is our greatest wish that all who read these reviews this week take the time to spread the message of Hope at all times.  Be the message to our diverse youth population that fear, hatred and intolerance are not acceptable.  Help us spread the message that it does get better, there will be equality, they are accepted and give them Hope!

And now for the good stuff:

Until Forever Comes, Cardeno C., Dreamspinner Press
Mates #2
Ethan Abbatt is a wolf shifter who can't shift. Plagued by pain and weakness all his life, he hopes to find an honorable death by joining his pack mates in a vampire attack. Instead, Ethan learns two things: draining his blood releases his pain and his wolf, and he has a true mate - a vampire named Miguel.

Miguel Rodriguez is more than four centuries old. Strong, powerful, and vicious, he walks through life as a shadow, without happiness or affection. When a young shifter tells Miguel they're true mates, destined to be together, Miguel sends him away. But Ethan is persistent, and Miguel can't resist for long. Once Miguel gives in, being together comes naturally. The challenge is keeping themselves alive so they can stay by each other's side until forever comes.

Review
Stubborn has a name and it is Ethan Abbatt. Once he figured out that Miguel was his true mate he wasn't going away no matter what anyone else said....even Miguel.

Miguel was savage and ruthless with everyone but Ethan and that dichotomy made me fall for his character.

I have to say after two books, this one being a prequel to Wake Me up Inside, that if the shifters don't make  more of an effort to integrate, their species as a whole isn't going to survive. And while the main theme may be forbidden but true love the more important lesson is acceptance and adaptability. And in that the shifters could learn from both the humans and the vampires.

Lots of sexy, sweet scenes and I have to say a nice change in that the older more experienced very alpha male didn't necessarily take the lead in the bedroom. And on a side note Katie totally cracked me up...she had no boundaries. LOL

My favorite part was the epilogue, seeing how the two stories tied together. I hope there are more stories planned in the future and that the shifters learn to tolerate difference.

RATING: 4 chocolate dipped strawberries.

And now for the good stuff:

Horn Gate, Damon Suede, Dreamspinner Press, May 2013

HORN GATE: Open at your own risk.

Librarian Isaac Stein spends his lumpy, lonely days restoring forgotten books, until the night he steals an invitation to a scandalous club steeped in sin. Descending into its bowels, he accidentally discovers Scratch, a wounded demon who feeds on lust.

Consorting with a mortal is a bad idea, but Scratch can't resist the man who knows how to open the portal that will free him and his kind. After centuries of possessing mortals, he finds himself longing to surrender. To be together, Isaac and Scratch must flirt with damnation and escape an inhuman trafficking ring—and they have to open their hearts or they will never unlock the Horn Gate.

For those who have read Hot Head, it is clearly established that Damon Suede can grip a reader with a great story.  In fact, it would be safe to say that readers of his contemporary M/M romances are rabid fans who want more of that exact style.  Horn Gate is not Hot Head.  Period. End Stop.  Does this mean do not read?  Absolutely not.  This clever novella ensnares the reader with its well crafted web of sex demons and fantastic Jewish occult lore.

There were moments of this book that felt almost Dorian Gray - with the lowly protagonist getting his greatest birthday wish and falling head over heels for the angel-demon.  The writing belongs in the superb category and almost felt incongruous in an erotic urban fantasy type piece.  On second thought, actually it didn't - it took a great story and vaulted it into an excellent category.  Full of wry wit and erudition, Horn Gate is the thinking person's sexy story.  Isaac and Scratch are the paranormal equivalent of Mutt and Jeff but they work in a compelling way.

Personally, this reviewer is looking forward to the next installment in this erotic fantastical series. Damon Suede earned his spot on my auto-buy list!

I give Horn Gate five chocolate dipped strawberries and a soft whispered plea to hurry up with Hard Head!

This book was give to us by the author for an unbiased review.  Many thanks.
