I have read a lot of stories about firefighters but almost all of them have been about urban firefighters not the Hot Shots that fight the forest fires. Having grown up in California near Sequoia National Forest in a family where all of my uncles at one time or another fought these fires I have the utmost respect for them and really appreciate the time and research that Ms. Andre put into this story. Not all of what happens in this story is believable (Maya jumps into a pool to escape a house fire and floats there for 30 minutes and her cell phone still works) but the dedication and the training aspects were very real.

This book worked for me on several levels. First I like when an author gives me a strong heroine in a book and Maya was strong. I know if I went through even half of what she did I would have sat in a corner and just cried. I liked that she was strong enough in her beliefs that she didn't back down but when she realized she made a mistake she admitted it and did everything she could to fix it.

We also get a confident, slightly cocky alpha hero that I just dare you not to fall for. Logan Cain was all kinds of sexy and protective and who doesn't want a man like that??? Even knowing he is under suspicion for arson his first thought it to protect the people in his life before himself.

And last we get a BAT-SHIT crazy villain. Now I am not going to tell you who that is because that would be wrong but I will tell you that I didn't not know for sure who it was until almost the very end.

The story line is fast paced an incredibly suspenseful, not to mention HOT and I am not just talking about the fires! make sure you have plenty of time once you start this book because you won't want to put it down.
