Sippin' on Thursday

WOO HOO so far it has been a fabulous week. I hope you all have enjoyed our reviews and have done some hopping because there are a LOT of fabulous prizes up for grabs. Today is Torquere's day and we have a little something special from them, we are featuring some their Charity Sips books and this years recipient couldn't be better. Here is a little info about this program:

In 2008, Torquere Press' fantastic authors decided to support a charity with an annual short story collection called our Charity Sip blitz. In the past four years, we've donated more than $15,000.00 to charitable organizations that support GLBT causes.

For 2012-2013, Torquere's authors have chosen the theme "Leather Bound" in honor of Torquere’s ninth anniversary. The ninth is traditionally the leather anniversary, what better theme to let GLBTQ writers go wild. The charity which will benefit from this year’s Charity Blitz is NOH8, whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest. More than twenty five authors have written short fiction pieces and have agreed to donate all proceeds of the sales of these stories to this year's charitable organization. Torquere Press Inc. will match the authors' donations completely.

Jackson Lafayette’s life is nearly idyllic. He’s newly married to his husband, Alex, and they’re madly in love. They’ve just bought a house together, have two dogs, and are basically as happy as can be. The only fly in the ointment is Jackson’s boss, Mr. Simpson, whose homophobia is creating a hostile work environment for Jackson.
When conditions at work escalate, and Jackson begins to show physical symptoms of stress, Alex must help him understand that unless he stands up for himself, nothing will ever get better.

I don't know that I have ever had such a visceral reaction to 29 pages before in my life. The way that Jackson is treated by his boss and the apathetic reactions of his co-workers made me so angry and sad. No one should ever have to put up with being treated in that way. I loved Alex, what a wonderful, understanding and supportive partner he was for Jackson. The fear that Jackson experiences over losing a job was so real and the courage it took to follow through was amazing.

Unlike most twinks, Brett doesn’t sub, which makes it difficult for him to find boyfriends, and is why he was so reluctant to dump his loser (now ex-) boyfriend.
Still, Brett's more than attracted to Damien, but fears there's no possibility of a relationship between them. Damien's very vanilla, and Brett's not a sub by any stretch of the imagination. Poor Brett is about to resign himself to a life of hook-ups when a fateful party turns his entire world upside down.

Ok so this book would get a 5 just for the name of the bar alone.....White Swallow. If I ever open a gay bar that is sooo what I am naming it! I think we all need a friend like Kirby, you know that won't hold back and tells it like it is even when we are being total douche-bags. Brett is one of those guys that at first comes off as having short mans disease. He doesn't bottom for anybody and that's just the way it is...so why is he having dreams about submitting to Damien? After several months of friendship Damien is finally ready to show Brett exactly what he needs even if he doesn't know it. This was a great, fun, quick read and I will be searching out more of Ms. Jerome's works.

Taking Inventory, Sean Michael

Marcus is getting ready for a leather convention and Jim is helping his Master take inventory. There's nothing better than the smell of leather and his Master nearby, and Jim is happy as a clam. Happy enough that even Marcus pushing can only bring joy. 

Marcus and Jim are back and the smell of leather will forever remind me of this story. Only Sean Michael could take something as mundane as inventory and turn into something HOT. Jim may still be dealing with some self-esteem issues but it doesn't take long before Marcus takes him in hand and shows him how sexy he is, with the help of some leather scrap pieces. As with all the Hammer stories be ready for a little dirty sex and a lot of hot loving!
