Floodgates by Mary Calmes #REVIEW @dreamspinners

Comfort romance for your soul!

Floodgates, Mary Calmes, Dreamspinner Press
Tracy Brandt considers himself a lucky man. He has a wonderful family, good friends, and a dependable job. His love life, however, features a cheating ex who, though out of the house, is not yet out of the picture—with a past that just might get Tracy killed.

Homicide inspector Cord Nolan wants nothing more than to show his best friend’s little brother that he’s a reliable man, but to do that he’ll have to get Tracy to look past the player he used to be. It'll be a tough sell; reputation is everything, and Cord's is tarnished by his past indiscretions.

Tracy and Cord have spent five years trying to suffocate their fiery attraction under a blanket of grudging antagonism. When Tracy finds himself with a target on his back, Cord finally has the chance to ride to the rescue and break through the dam of Tracy's reserve. But he’d better be careful: if Cord is breaking the floodgates to wash away the past, he's going to have to hold tight to Tracy to make sure they're still standing when the tumult recedes.

REVIEW:
I like knowing that there are authors that no matter what genre they write in I am going to fall in love with their characters. Ms. Calmes is one of those authors for me. I know that I am going to get likeable characters that I will care about like they are family, a wonderful love story and some moments that are going to make me laugh out loud. This book is no exception!

Tracy is that loveable guy that everyone who meets him wants to take care of him and keep him safe. He is loyal and that loyalty just may get him killed.

Cord is a cop who lives to torment Tracy. The way that these two argue you just know it's only a mater of time before they are ripping each others clothes off. When things start to break bad for Tracy Cord is the only one he wants protecting his body.

We are treated to a story that is simple in it's premise but the layers that the author adds makes it much more complex and engaging. There are great secondary characters...some we love, Tracy's family, and some we hate....douchebag slimeball!(don't want to give anything away) There is plenty of action of both the life threatening and the BOW CHICKA WOW WOW kind.

Be sure and pick this one up!
