Bear, Otter & the Kid #4
Family is not always defined by blood. It’s defined by those who make us whole—those who make us who we are.
And here, at the end, Bear and Otter will be tested like they’ve never been before.
There’s a knock at the door from a little girl who has nowhere else to go.
There’s a phone ringing, bringing news they do not expect.
There’s a brother returning home after learning how to stand on his own.
As these moments converge, all of their lives will change forever.
Beginning in Bear, Otter, and the Kid, and continuing in Who We Are and The Art of Breathing, TJ Klune has told a saga of family and brotherhood, of love and sacrifice. In this final chapter, the events of the past pave the long and winding road toward a future no one could have imagined.
REVIEW:
We have come to the end of the saga that is Bear, Otter and the Kid and I think that TJ brought this beloved series to it's fitting end.
This addition to the series had everything that I had come to expect and love. There is the high angst level, softened by the love and caring and shaken up by the absolute hilarity. We are back in Bear's head for this one and while some things are the same, you can definitely see the growth both the character and the author have experienced since we first met them six years ago.
I am a big fan of books that run me through the gauntlet of emotions, the real visceral feelings that happen in life. There is some retelling of events that happened in the previous book but from a different POV, so it doesn't feel rehashed but shines light on a different perspective. There is also the most fabulous part of any BOATK book.....a family dinner!!! OMH, seriously my favorite part! Seeing the whole dysfunctional family together again and being "them" brought a smile to my face. I totally think Creed is the best dad ever!!! LOL
TLAWR brings us closure and happiness and hope. These characters are real for me and I will miss them. Thank you for sharing them all with us Mr Klune!
