Greetings and salutations Humpday Nation - made it half way through again. We are so awesome! It's been a busy week already - lovely Easter weekend doing alot of nothing after channeling my inner Cinderella (those forest creatures never showed up to help, damn them!) working with Tyra on massive spring clean of the baseball field's concession stand. Plenty of books read and plenty of reviews to come. And please tell me you all are as excited as we are about the upcoming episodes of Once Upon A Time, Grimm and Game of Thrones - helps to bide time until June's season 5 kick off of True Blood and Lord knows what that nut job Alan Ball has in store for us this season. I tell you - there are meds for people like him! As for the rest of us - some non-prescription strength eye candy! Just what the doctor ordered....Mmmmmmm.
Marooned in Miami, Sandra Bunino, Bradley Publishing, January 2012
Undeniable lust and a fierce Miami storm bring sexy strangers together at The Hotel Del Santos for a passion filled night.
Stephanie, still reeling from a failed marriage, needs a break from the past. She decides to take her friends’ advice and finds a perfect stranger for a night of no-strings-attached, smoking hot sex.
Jason, a wealthy Seattle builder has the worst luck with love. Swearing he would never allow another woman to get under his skin, Jason decides a life of casual sex is just fine with him. While watching Stephanie’s sexy stilettos click across the lobby floor he zeros in on his next conquest.
Cut off from the outside world, the lives of these two strangers collide and burn with desire when stranded in the perfect storm. Both are content with the idea of sharing a glorious one-night stand together, that is, until they go their separate ways.
Perhaps it's because I read this on Easter and my house was filled with candy, but that is all I could think of while reading this short, sexy novella. Candy. Sweet, gooey, leave you aching but wanting more candy. The premise is simple enough - two people meet in an elevator in a swank hotel. Both successful, both burned by former lovers, neither looking for more than a hook up - he far more experienced at that sort of thing than she. But surprisingly enough, Ms. Bunino cleverly draws the reader into her web of sexy delights and once there, you're stuck!
I wasn't particularly attracted to either character initially. Jason was too perfect, Stephanie too sweet. But watching them peel away each other's public veneers and get down to some serious romancing was quite captivating. Their Miami interlude, brief though it was, lingers in their brains like a dream just out of reach - teasing and tantalizing with details that come back in snippets and make the reader what it as much as they do, again and again.
The buildup for their reunion in Vegas leaves the reader hanging on edge, crazy with anticipation of the next phase in their sexy escapade. Almost cruel, perfectly timed like the end of a spicy soap opera - stay tuned dear readers for the next installment you will definitely want to read: book 2 - Lusted in Las Vegas. Like I said, short and sweet - an erotic candy treat, worth the read for those fans of contemporary romance!
RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries, some wine and roses....just like the story, straight up romantic.
