Too Cold To Love, The Giovanni Clan book 2, Doris O'Connor, Amazon Digital, May 2012
Elise has always been the responsible one, so when she receives yet another SOS phone call from her wayward twin, she does the only thing she can do, she steps into her shoes. Having to go back to nannying is hard enough, the unexpected attraction to her arrogant employer is impossible to deal with. Especially when she is forced to agree to a marriage of his convenience to pay off the debt her twin accrued.
In a marriage based on blackmail can passion turn into love, or will secrets and lies destroy all?
Tyra said it best - Doris O'Connor, where have you been hiding!?! New to us author, Doris O'Connor, has earned instant auto-buy status with this reviewer. Billing herself as an author of "sensual, sassy, sexy romances" is about as spot on as a person can get with this description.
Staying within the tight knit, slightly wacky but infinitely lovable Giovanni clan, this second in the series spins the emotionally provoking story of a very heart-broken single father and the nanny he blackmails into marrying him in an attempt to maintain custody of his special little girl. Marco Giovanni is the ultimate brooding alpha male - with tiny glimpses of heart melting sweetness and mouth watering sexuality. Elise plays counter part, reserved but determined to salvage the disastrous situation she finds herself immersed in as she fall yet again into one of her twin Jemima's tangled webs. Strong, sassy and wholly relatable, she becomes the heroine that spurns the reader into cheering for her HEA, even as tears are streaming and all seems completely hopeless!
O'Connor weaves former favorite characters back into this tangled web of lies, deceit and keeps the potential for maudlin moments or melodrama at bay. Mamma G, like the best classic match-making matriarchs, interjects both sage advice and hilariously awkward sexual innuendos into the story. Keeping up with the lives of Alex and Kitty also lends the story additional depth - satisfying reader's curiosity for the "what happened after happily ever after?"
Richly descriptive, with strong characters whose developing sexual chemistry is off the charts, Too Cold to Love, teases the reader with a full range of emotions and sensual delights. Jennifer, the evil ex, crafts and plots total mayhem on the odd couple who, ultimately, are perfect for one another. Their own internal baggage however is the ultimate impediment to their finding their way to love. Thankfully, interfering family, staff and a series of unfortunate events are the impetus success - learning to love in a large and boisterous Italian familia.
With a sip of one of the lovely family vineyard's finest and a taste of Giovanni's bakery delights, I completely concur this is one sexy, sassy, sensual romance that readers need to grab and go with....today!
