REVIEW
I seriously LOVED this book. Ms. Hilaire does a great job of creating a unique, exciting, diverse world. Her world is not only filled with angels and the bad guy vampires, but we also have demons, succubi, imps and the bad guy Lucifer himself makes an appearance.
Roland was once a Paladin, a warrior for God, until the night he is killed and made into a vampire. Now he is just trying to hold onto what little humanity remains within him. When his old friend Lucas asks for help he wants to say no but can't bring himself to deny his brother and last tie to his old life.
Karissa has had her whole world turned upside down when she finds her Grandfather murdered. She runs to the one man that her Grandfather said would always protect her and that man turns her over to a vampire.
This book is full of interesting characters. Roland's fight with himself to try and deny his feelings for Karissa because he is soulless and therefore not worthy of her. Karissa, turned out to be a much stronger heronine that I thought she was going to be at first. But the strong point for this book for me are the secondary characters. At the top of my "I need to know more" list has got to be Gabby! That little half breed piqued my interest and I have a feeling is going to give Valin and the rest of the Paladin's a run for their money.
