February....
Well, the 29 days of misery has started. I’ve said before that I hate the month of February for so many reason I can’t even begin to list them. I spent the first and second day of the month home with a sick child. Lucky me got to go to traffic court also with a sick child. Nothing says have a great day like court running 1 ½ behind schedule. But I shouldn’t complain I made out ok. Nothing left to do but take it one day at a time and count the days till May 1st (88 in case you were wondering). This story is what I picked up at 12 midnight while up with a sick child.
Guardians Challenge by Bronwyn Green
No good deed goes unpunished...
When Neeve returns to the kingdom of Maelgwn to help a friend, she finds herself face to face with the man she ran from nine months ago. Before she fled, she’d promised a year of service to the Guardians of the Temple, and now that she’s back, Asher, the Chancellor of Maelgwn intends to claim the remainder of that time.
For almost a year, Asher has been searching for his consort, Neeve, who vanished without a trace. He wants her back where she belongs. In his bed. And a year won’t be nearly long enough. When the pair ends up on a diplomatic mission, with another guardian accompanying, Asher finds his plan to claim her sidetracked by duty and torn by the obligation to share her with the other man for the duration of their task.
With hearts and the future at stake, Asher and Neeve must find the power to believe, trust and love one another, not just for the moment but forever. But that might be more than either is able to give.
As I mentioned earlier I picked this up in the middle of the night. I had no idea what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. This story is about one of those times where communication would have been great. LOL. I could see why Neeve was hesitant to hang around for Asher. She was in love with him but was assuming that after her time with him had been “served” his plan was to discard her and move on. Asher had other plans. He wanted no other but didn’t voice his feelings…. so she took off before she could get hurt further. After an extended time of misery apart they are bought back together and end up taking on a goodwill mission together. Again they agreed to be “together” for the duration of this mission as a cover but neither were sure they could walk away from each other again. As part of their cover they picked up a “third”. Asher was not sure how he felt about sharing Neeve with another man but the other man made it clear that as much as he cared for Neeve himself it was obvious that she and Asher belong together.
I give this book 4 chocolate dipped strawberries and some of that nice sparkly “jewelry”
