A Night of Southern Comfort... Better Than Fried Chicken

A Night of Southern Comfort kicks off hot and never gives readers a chance to cool off. I read this book as fast as I could (no kids, sorry, mommy cannot cook dinner, I am reading!) – each scene leading so fluidly into the next creating a well-paced story. It is steamy, full of suspense and intrigue and characters readers will love. And I cannot believe it is a DEBUT NOVEL!

Set right in my backyard here in rural Virginia, the characters are realistic, believable and interesting. The secondary characters are a good addition, incorporating that small-town feel.

Jackson was a sinfully delicious southern gentleman who just happens to also be ex-FBI. All he wants is his job back at the FBI – recognizing he messed up and willing to do anything for another chance. When the governor calls and wants Jackson to guard his daughter, promising this will lead to his job being re-instated, Jackson cannot refuse. But when he meets the governor’s daughter and realizes it’s the woman with whom he had a one night stand, he’s shocked… but determined.

Jackson and Michaela have remarkable chemistry both in their one night stand and when they meet again. Watching them fight their attraction provides for great dialogue and fun scenes. When they finally give in, sigh, readers will be delighted and in need of a fan (often). This is a steamy romance full of suspense that truly drove the plot, with believable characters and delicious sex.  And just wait for the twist at the end! I didn’t predict it coming but I do predict readers will love this book.

FAVORITE LINE: “I wasn´t looking for a man at all. That changed when I saw you. I picked you because I couldn´t not pick you.”

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries… mm… mm… delicious.

Many thanks to Entangled Publishing for providing this book for my review.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Robin Covington writes sizzling, contemporary romances with a sassy splash of humor.
Like most girls raised in the rural South, Robin is descended from a long line of storytellers.  If her Granny or Papa got started on a tale you’d do best to pull up a chair, grab a glass of sweet iced tea, and settle in for the ride.  The stories were always larger than life, heart-wrenching and funny – just like life – best savored slowly and with relish.
The discovery of books was a natural extension of her love of a good story and once she got her hands on her first Bertrice Small novel – she was hooked.  Beautiful, spunky heroines and sexy, smoldering heroes – yes, please!  She soon found that she was weaving her own tales of love and laughter in her head and then scribbling them down when she just couldn’t keep them inside any longer.
On her fortieth birthday, Robin decided that having a mid-life crisis and finding a boy-toy were far too tacky, so she delved a little deeper into the “bucket list” and pulled out the long-shelved dream of becoming an author. So, she pulled out the laptop, grabbed a glass of iced tea and started putting her stories down on paper.
Now, her life is busy with being the lucky wife of her own sexy, smoldering hero, blessed mother to her two amazing children, and her full-time job as an attorney.  By night, she continues the Southern tradition of telling stories that weave together all of what makes life worth living – love and laughter.  Happily ever after, guaranteed.
