I confess that I've never read a Crownover book I haven't loved. And this is no different. Church was a man of mystery in previous books that I was dying to know more about, but Dixie was a background character I hadn't really paid attention to. Church and Dixie's love story was completely unexpected and perfect all at the same time. The chemistry was undeniable. With the touch of mystery, some action and even more sexy time, I was riveted.

REVIEW

Opening each book in the Thunder Road series has been like opening a gift. The unforgettable characters and the message woven into the stories will stay with me for a long while. It's the best combination of MC Romance and Young Adult Angst.

I had been eagerly awaiting Violet's story since she first made an appearance in book one. I knew she'd have a powerful backstory but I was blown away by Chevy. I'd written him off as a simple jock whose only goal was to join the MC. Boy, was I wrong! His backstory was intricate and exposed him for the multi-dimensional person he truly was. These characters will stay with me for a long while.

The use of the Robert Frost poem, and it's connection to the characters, was well executed and added unexpected depth to the book. Don't underestimate this series -and particularly this book- because it has so much packed into its pages. And with a string to the overall story arc still out there, I just know there's more to come.

Absolutely adored this book. It's a MUST READ!

He reached out and shut the medical file in front of him and leaned back in his chair. His eyebrows

If the guy across from me was a cherry-red Ferrari, then I was a rusted- out and battered John Deere tractor in comparison. “I want my life back, Mr. Frederick. I want to be able to move the way I used to. I want to pass the department physical so I can go back on patrol. I want to be able to walk without needing a crutch or a cane. I want to be the way I was before I got hurt.” I was asking for the impossible and I knew it. “And please call me Dom.” He dipped his chin down a little, and the edge of his mouth tilted up in a slight grin. Damn the man was good-looking. I blew out a breath and lifted up my hands to run them over the top of my shorn hair. Very much like the other two books in the series, Ignited rounds out this trilogy about the three knights of Chicago and their new women. I'd been curious about Cole throughout the series because he seemed the most mysterious. Though he thought of himself as mostly bad, there's something Catalina brings out in him that completes the both of them. The story was well written with delicious sex, tender conversations and *bonus* cameo appearances from the Stark trilogy characters,

Five facts about Within These Walls

1. The poem Abigail recites was written by my 10-year old daughter Hannah.  

2. The song “All of Me” by John Legend inspired much of the book.  I’d already come up with the concept and even begun writing WTW when I first heard it on the radio, but it somehow solidified the storyline for me and connected me with the characters. 

3. I chose Lailah’s name specifically because of its meaning.  I wanted her to have a strong, beautiful name, and I loved that symbolized so much of her backstory.  (Read the story—you’ll understand!)  

4. I did a lot of research on congenital heart defects and along the way, I met a young woman named Becca who was born with CHD.  She is currently facing the very real possibility of a lung and heart transplant.  Her story was so inspiring to me and I really hope I did her justice in the way I portrayed Lailah.  To learn more about Becca, you can visit her blog: http://lifeasachronicallyillteen.blogspot.com/

I grabbed my stuff and headed toward the store. After a quick conversation with the employee, I came back out and found Finn standing there, his hands in his pockets and his shoulders hunched. Emery brings in an outsider to Rev. Holly knows virtually nothing about the MC lifestyle and comes with her own baggage, but none of this makes her any less perfect for Grady. Their story made me smile. Bringing in Grady's daughter and his life as a dad really connected me to him as more than just a biker. Still, that mafia trouble looms in the background and I can't help wondering when all hell is going to break loose and exactly which characters we might lose. There were hints -foreshadowing- of things to come and as much as it's driving me crazy, I admit to the author being quite smart as well as an evil mastermind.

This series will hook you. I'm a full fledged fan of the Bayonet Scars novels.

Thrash steps the series up a notch. Now focused on a new club member and his love story, the overall suspense plot is woven throughout. In this book, readers see how the mafia involvement is impacting the entire club. At the same time, Emery has brought in the human-side of her bikers which has allowed me to feel more connected.

I'm intrigued to see just where this series is going... with so many questions, I'm just twiddling my fingers until I can get my hands on book three.

REVIEW
Ride starts the Bayonet Scars series out strong as an introduction into a world that has crazy potential as a new MC series. Between the mafia and the MC, I knew this was going to be intense. Intense, it was. Also gritty and suspenseful and oddly romantic. There's just nothing better than watching a strong man fall in love.

The unique premise of the world Emery created grabbed my attention. And overall, Ride is a good read though I had to work at connecting with the characters. I expect bikers to be rough but there has to be a redeeming core to them as well. Perhaps we see that side of them in future books. I'm anticipating the next books because the plot felt disjointed and I wonder if I'm just not quite feeling the overall story arc. And despite feeling like the ending left me unsatisfied, I also wonder if that's because I need to just keep reading.

Overall, Ride was a solid beginning to the series that has so much potential. Now, I'm off to read the next book… I have to know where the story goes next.

A noise comes. A shadow rears up in the dark. I scream. “What the hell?” Panic claws my chest and I scream again, reaching blindly for something to fight him off. Squatters and junkies and all kinds of dangerous men fill my mind as my hand closes around something solid on the hall table and I swing with everything I’ve got. “Goddamn!” The figure reels back, stumbling against the wall. “Get away from me!” I cry, shaking. REVIEW

Night Games is a romantic story about Chase, a gorgeous -yet self absorbed- baseball player who falls for Grey, a stubborn, spirited girl. Their story is sweet and funny, and the book is a quick read.


The plot moves along fast thanks to the antics of the characters. I found Chase unlikable which may have been the intention of the author but it left me with a disconnect. The relationship building is rushed once you get to the half-way point. We go from hate to love in a near blink. And there's a lot going on in the second half that doesn't seem to gel as smoothly as the first half.

I enjoyed the story but there's no "wow" factor. Maybe if there'd been more... more grit, more angst, more conflict... Regardless, it's a good read. Try it out.
