Embers (Common Law Series, Book 2) by Kate Sherwood continues the story of Jericho as he returns home and re-enters a world he never planned to be a part of again. The series is progressing slowly, particularly his relationship with Wade, so patience is required for us romance fans who are used to immediate gratification. The embers are smoldering now though. That heat is picking up and I'm hooked on these men.


Small town—big problems. Jericho Crewe is back in Mosely, Montana, trying to deal with police corruption, interfering feds, his newly discovered family members, and, of course, Wade Granger.

He doesn’t really need a biker war on top of it all, but as the bodies start to pile up, it becomes pretty clear that’s what he’s got. Not only that, but Wade’s involved somehow, and as soon as Wade is a part of something, things that seemed clear become cloudy.

With the feds breathing down his neck, Jericho has to find his way through Wade’s maze of half truths and manipulations. It would all be so much easier if Jericho could think straight in the other man’s presence. So much easier if their passionate past could be forgotten, and if he could be sure he’s strong enough to resist the temptation of a passionate present.

REVIEW
Suspense filled this book from word one. Jericho walks into the unknown when he returns home, and surprises come at him from every turn. Unraveling the mystery of how his father died and protecting a newly discovered family are his focus. There's a good deal of set up in this book, introducing characters and their backgrounds, which slowed the book down a bit. But I'm hopeful the next book will be even better than the first.

Another Kate Sherwood good read.

Leiv Pritchard does not do Valentines! He hates the commercialism and the forced feeling of it all. But when he realizes that his attitude has hurt Carter's feelings he knows he needs to make it up to him.  And learns there is nothing better than make up sex.

Oh Amy, why must you rip my heart out every time?? This felt very much like a prelude to a full book and when I checked the Riptide site I saw that it is. Here is hoping that this unconventional family can find happiness.

No Easy Way
Cary was only 16 when Dylan joined the military and broke his heart. Now, 6 years later Dylan is back and determined to make Cary forgive him. Can the two work through the betrayal and the anger to find their way back? With the help of a certain sexy book they just might!

Helping Hand
I was so loving this story of Lucas, a high school senior who is coming to terms with the fact that he is gay, until the ending. O M H Please tell me that this is another character introduction??

There were so many great moments in this book. What could have been a horrible coming out turned out to be a great way to show a connection between Lucas and his dad.

Maybe Lucas just needs to grow up some and this story will pick back up then.

I'll Be There
I liked the two MC's in this story and the determination of Nash to make it to Spencer despite the odds against him, but I have to say that I really wanted to know more about Healey and his band of nerds! Although I think my favorite part of the story is how many time Spencer is mistaken for several other British actors.


I had not read any of the Bluewater Bay books before starting this anthology, but have since bought all of the books in the series. I am looking forward to reading them all!

REVIEW:
Sexiest game of Truth or Dare ever! This series is so intense that it's just nice to take a break and get a peek into the characters everyday, not life threatening, lives. This novella is a just a yummy break from the drama and gives us a deeper sense of the relationship between Prophet and Tommy. The trust and care that grows with each book is on prominent display. Sexy, fun quick read and one that will most definitely be read more than once.

Oh and remind me to call Tommy the next time I need a couch moved. (note to self buy couch just for Tommy to move)

Episode #19 has just released (and I won't brag that I read it a few weeks ago!?) which concludes the serial whose first episode released nearly two years past. Heidi Belleau was born and raised in small town New Brunswick, Canada. She now lives in Alberta with her husband, an Irish ex-pat whose long work hours in the trades leave her plenty of quiet time to write.

Nick was silent as he looked out on the moonlit fields. They were peaceful now, but it seemed there were echoes of gunfire and cannon blasting, bayonets clashing, men and horses screaming in fear and pain.

“It doesn’t really matter why, or how history writes it down,” Nick said. “The only thing that matters is that every man out there believed in what he was doing. He was standing on this ground, willing to take a bullet fired by his brother, to protect something he thought was worth dying for. That country. That king. That ideal. That land back home. REVIEW:
If National Treasure and the Godfather had a baby it would be Cross & Crown!

I enjoyed this book with it's complex story line, interesting well researched historical facts and Nick & Kelly in all their fabulous fabulousness!

Nick is finally back on regular duty after donating a piece of his liver to his craptastic father, and picks up an unusual robbery/homicide case right before Kelly is due for a visit. He still has moments of PTSD and is still dealing with his anger towards Ty, but Nick and Kelly are stronger than ever.

Kelly comes to town to find Nick knee deep in a mystery but instead of just sitting back and watching his man in action he gets to join in on the fun as well.

We have a hottie suspect/victim with amnesia, a search for some missing treasure and JULIAN FREAKIN' CROSS! How could you ask for more? What we don't have is Liam Bell but for me that just makes the anticipation (said in my best Dr. Frank N. Furter voice) for the next book even greater.

I have fallen for Nick & Kelly hook, line and sinker!

God, Prophet fucking loved a good bar fight—hadn’t had one in a while. He sent tables and chairs flying, was more cautious with actual people, but hell, anyone who came at him got a good, sharp right hook.

Ren had, of course, started the fight when Mal gave the signal that Cillian was heading toward the bar. Now, Prophet and Tom were the only ones from their group left inside the bar, and Tom ambled over to him while he waited by the dancers’ platform that was mostly unharmed. As were the dancers.

“You all right?” Tom asked.

Prophet nodded, noting that Tom looked entirely too pleased with himself. “That felt good.”

Tom shook his head.

“What? I needed to release some tension.” Prophet stretched his neck. “I definitely don’t get to do that often enough.”

“There are other ways to relieve tension, Proph.”

“I know that. And now I’m going to try one of them.”

He grabbed Tom and yanked him close, rubbing his rough-stubbled cheek against Tom’s, knowing full well Tom loved the scratch and burn. “You fought too, Cajun.”

“Self-defense, pure and simple,” he protested. “And I saw Mal and Cillian. We were clear before the fight.”

“And after. Saw Cillian leave with the majority of the crowds,” Prophet confirmed. “Where were they?”

“Closer to the back.” Tom waved a hand casually in that direction. “Shouldn’t we leave?”

“Not till we get the all clear.”

He pulled Tommy onto the dance floor, wrapping around him, burying his face in Tommy’s neck. Tom did the same as they swayed. Partly so they wouldn’t be spotted, but mainly because it was really nice to be able to hold Tom like this.

“Want to fuck you right here,” Prophet murmured. “Get on my knees, suck you. Then turn you around, hold you against the pillar and take you in front of everyone.”

Tom groaned against Prophet’s ear.

“Ah, you like that idea,” Prophet shifted his glance to another couple, made sure Tom noticed they were stroking each other.

“Fuck,” Tom muttered. “We need to go to clubs more often.”

“Right,” Prophet teased. “Because we don’t have enough sex.” But really, sex with Tommy was everything. It was where and how he’d gotten the best possible education on everything Tommy—and he was well aware that Tom had gotten the same information on him. Until you really knew what someone was like in bed, you didn’t really know them at all.

“Never enough,” Tom informed him seriously. “And maybe I’d push you onto your knees. Then down on the ground. Spread you and fuck you in front of everyone.”

Prophet hissed a breath, bared his throat slightly. “You’d make me perform?”

“You’d fucking love it, Proph.”

Fuck yeah, he would. “When this is all over . . . that.”

“Yeah, that,” Tom echoed.

This is the third book in the Hell or High Water series. This book picks up just a few months after Long Time Gone ends. Things are going well between Prophet and Tommy on the relationship front, they have moved in together and the co-habitation seems to be working. Even with the added roommates. However Prophet's PTSD is getting worse and so is his eyesight.

Prophet is one of those men that will jump in with both feet to help others but isn't as quick to help or ask for help for himself. It's a good thing Tommy isn't waiting until he asks.

There is a lot of action and intrigue, but you had to know that coming in. The whole team is back and stirring up trouble not just for the bad guys but there is some MAJOR personal drama going on in the group as well. Loyalties are questioned and relationships hang in the balance.

SE is an author who is great at giving you just enough answers so that you feel satisfied and yet leaves you craving more. These books are high octane from the suspense to the sex and I am just happy to be along for the ride!

Thanks so much for having me here today, so I can shout about the fact that Free Falling’s getting a re-release with Riptide! I’m so excited about this, you have no idea. For me, this is the book that started the Hell or High Water series (see below for more on that).

Free Falling originally came out in December of 2012—it was the first book I self-published, and I worked with Sarah Frantz as my editor (and she’s now my Riptide editor as well) and the entire experience was simply awesome.

This would also be the second book Prophet inserted himself into (the first was Bound For Keeps). It was then I realized that the man needed his own series or else he would show up in every single book I wrote. But for Free Falling, it certainly cemented the bond between Blue and Prophet. I’ve brought Blue and Mick back in Long Time Gone (Hell or High Water 2) and yes, I’m totally planning a Free Falling sequel, which would happen sometime post Dirty Love (Dirty Deeds 3). Because I can’t get enough of Blue, my favorite thief, and Mick, the man who’ll chase him every single time.

The great thing about moving this book to Riptide is that now all my EE, Ltd. books are in one place AND Free Falling will now be available everywhere in eFormat AND in print!!! The cover looks gorgeous in person.

REVIEW:
I have become addicted to the complicated men that Jakes writes. Her stories pull me in and always leave me wanting more!

Blue is a thief; and there's no changing him. But he might just be a thief with a heart of gold. He is addicted to the adrenaline rush he gets from stealing more than the money.

Mick is your stoic by the books character and you know that just makes Blue want to mess with him. He wants you to think he's a hard ass but he has a protective streak a mile wide. I think Mick might be the least damaged of Jakes men.

Having said that it doesn't make it any easier for these two Alpha males to work things out. Then just when they get things right in the bedroom outside forces may rip them apart for good.

This book has humor and bad guys and some hard to deal with emotions but at it's core are two men who were made to love each other. Like all of the books by this author that I have read, the chemistry that she creates between he MC's is both real and hot as hell.

If you like your stories short and sexy and your men assertive and stubborn then grab this book and enjoy the fall!

And the cameo from Prophet is just icing on the cake!

REVIEW:
Confession; at the beginning of December I had not read a book by SE Jakes, and now, I have read everything and am asking myself why I waited so long.

Ok so you know Mal from the Hell or High Water series, and if you haven't read that series you need to stop and go do that now! He can't speak due to an injury but that doesn't stop him from getting his point across. The man is crazy sexy and cool as hell. Seriously not sure who has the shadier back ground....Mal or Cillian.

Cillian is also a character that you meet in the HoHW series so again....go read it! I thought the IM messages between Cillian and Prophet were hot but they are totally PG compared to the messages between Cillian and Mal.

It's through the IM encounters that the two men start to open up a bit, or as much as two men in deep undercover who have been burned before and have total trust issues can open up. The conversations start out light but quickly become real and that is something neither man expects.

There is so much action, it is non-stop and a great beginning to this spin-off series. It will leave you sitting in a corner rocking back and forth murmuring "I need more".  Jakes weaves espionage, betrayal  and sex seamlessly and the way this one ended, all I could do was gasp! I have become an addict and I am NOT looking for a 12 step program.

If you are a fan of Abi Roux's Cut & Run series or Mary Calmes A Matter of Time series then you need to add Jakes to your auto-buy list!
