Holiday Reading - Stocking Stuffers @dreamspinners #ADVENT #HOLIDAYREADS

Stocking Stuffers - 2017 Advent Calendar - Dreamspinner Press
Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most….

The holidays are a time when bigger often means better, and meals are huge, decorations are over-the-top, and elaborate gifts and grand gestures are one way to show affection. But beneath all the pomp and ceremony, after the grandiose presents have been unwrapped, the stocking stuffers are still waiting to add that final sparkle to the perfect celebration. Even the tiniest trinkets can be gems when they’re chosen with love, and like a good love story, they are held close to the heart and treasured for years to come. The festivities don’t have to end after the feasts and gift exchanges. Dig a little deeper for romantic stocking stuffers both naughty and nice.

A Gift of Family by Tami Veldura
Scott Burke has always desired a big family, but as a divorced single dad, all he has is his young daughter, Lexi. He pours himself into raising her, half-convinced he’ll never find what he’s looking for. When Brennan Price strolls into Scott’s life, he’d better have enough patience for both Lexi and Scott if he intends to stick around.
Brennan has a huge family and a successful career, but no one to call his own. Wooing Scott and his daughter is right up his alley, though, and he steps up to the challenge to prove he’s enough for both of them. His attraction to Scott is immediate, but he recognizes a family man when he sees one and hatches a plan to win Lexi over. Her handsome father is sure to follow….

A Holiday Crush by CJane Elliott
San Francisco lawyer Brad Halberstam is in a rut. At forty-one, he’s successful but alone. Even his holidays are predictable—he spends every Christmas golfing in Napa with his ex-boyfriend. Then attractive but oh-so-young filmmaker Michael Blair invites him out. Brad joins Michael and his housemates in their holiday celebrations and learns that life can be joyful. He hesitates to saddle Michael with a much-older boyfriend but as their attraction ignites, Brad’s tempted to let Michael sweep him into a bright new future.

Michael lives in a group house in Berkeley. He loves making life into a celebration, especially during the holidays. Michael longs for a partner, and he hopes serious but sweet Brad Halberstam is the one. Michael’s infatuation grows over caroling and cookies, but his housemate reminds him that Michael always latches on to someone during the holidays, so he won’t be alone. After a misunderstanding, Michael loses heart, no longer sure if his relationship with Brad is real or just another Christmas crush.

A Timely Gift by Kris T. Bethke
Sometimes the right gift can be life-changing….
On the solstice, Rory’s grandfather gives him a pocket watch that he claims will have Rory’s life sorted and his problems solved by Christmas. Rory starts out skeptical, but when he reconnects with an ex he never thought he’d see again, he has to admit there might be some holiday magic working after all.
Deacon’s life is in shambles, and he’s returned to Syracuse for a fresh start. Running into Rory again feels like much more than a coincidence, and neither of them can deny the passion between them is still smoldering. With the watch behaving oddly at just the right moments, Rory and Deacon might receive the gift of a lifetime—if they’re willing to accept it.

All Creatures Great and Small by Kasper Quill
Growing up an orphan meant Charlie never celebrated Christmas. He’s committed to making sure his newly adopted cat, Max, doesn’t miss out like he did. Unfortunately, he discovers that giving Max the perfect Christmas might be easier said than done—and not without risk.
Charlie’s landlord, successful and wealthy real estate developer Aemon Scotfield, is charmed by the gorgeous redhead and his shameless alley cat. He finds himself compelled to help orchestrate a memorable celebration for Max—and Charlie—despite the mishaps that seem to just keep coming. As difficult as it will be to pull off the perfect holiday, the real challenge might be walking away when it’s over.

An Open Window by Rick R. Reed
Two men. One Christmas Eve that changes the courses of both their lives.
Henry’s homeless and only wants a warm place to sleep on the coldest night of the year. A forgotten open window in a darkened house entices Henry inside with the promise of warmth and comfort. He knows it’s bad, but he promises himself he’ll be out before the owner wakes on Christmas morning. Except he oversleeps and the homeowner, Jim, discovers a bearded stranger sawing logs under his dining room table. When the shock and the drama that ensues dies down, Henry and Jim discover that they might have found, quite unexpectedly, the Christmas miracle they’d both been longing for—love and home.

An Unexpected Sanctuary by Cassie Decker
An aggressive super-flu pandemic wipes out a majority of the population over the course of one Christmas holiday—and brings Tobin and Kyle together. For almost a year, they’ve been trekking across the country from Colorado toward a sanctuary in upstate New York. Kyle’s survival skills have kept them alive, and Tobin wants to repay the man he loves with a very special gift of his own making. He sneaks off in search of the last few pieces… only to get himself and Kyle kidnapped by a desperate stranger. With their journey to New York on hold—possibly indefinitely—they’ll need to accept that home isn’t always defined by a place as much as the person you’re with.

Candy Canes and Cappuccinos by Elizabeth Coldwell
Kyle is struggling to run his coffee shop on his own after his partner walked out on him. He has his eye on Steven, who comes into the shop each day, but hasn’t worked up the nerve to express his interest. When Steven asks Kyle to help out with Christmas lunch at the homeless shelter where he works, Kyle is too exhausted to agree. He donates his tips but still feels he’s blown his chances with Steven and made himself look like a selfish jerk.
On Christmas Day, Kyle sees a way to make amends—to both Steven and the needy people depending on his kindness. It’s the right thing to do, and Kyle hopes he can clear up the misunderstanding and show Steven the type of man he really is. Maybe then they can consider some dessert when the lunch at the shelter is over….

Christmas Grace by C.L. Miles
Christmas has been a lonely time of year for Aaron since losing his family fifteen years ago. But now he’s seeing Craig, and though Aaron is sure they belong together, both have been hurt in the past, so they’re taking things slowly. So far, Craig has been supportive of Aaron’s struggles with anxiety—struggles that cost Aaron relationships in the past.
On Christmas Eve, Aaron is closing his bookshop when Craig surprises him with a specially planned evening. Will this be the night they take that final step and deepen their physical relationship? Aaron hopes so, but things aren’t that simple. Craig has been keeping a secret…. Can Aaron take his place as part of a family again and accept the love he’s missed for so long—or will he find that some deceptions are too big to be forgiven, even with the help of some Christmas grace?

Dear Ruth by Kim Fielding
Dear Ruth,
I’m not in the mood for Christmas. After a romantic relationship went up in flames, I returned to my hometown in rural Kansas. Then my mother passed away. I’m really busy with my job as fire marshal—and now with my mother’s advice column, which I reluctantly took over. There’s a sexy newcomer down the street, a guy with a young daughter and an unfortunate disregard for fire safety. He seems to want to be friends, but that creates problems that may be too hot for me to handle. The last things I need right now are flammable holiday decorations and too much holiday food. How am I supposed to give good advice to others when I can’t seem to get my own life straight?
—Bah Humbug in Bailey Springs

Eugene and the Box of Nails by Jaime Samms
Every time it seems like things are looking up for Eugene Kraft, disaster hits. Bankruptcy, a bigoted sibling, and a back-breaking accident have all left him with little money and less faith in the universe.
His last-ditch effort at peace is the small lakeside property where he is building a tiny house from recycled materials. If he can get it livable before the cold sets in, maybe he’ll be okay. Hopefully Cullen, the foreman on the construction site next door, won’t notice Eugene pilfering discarded materials from his dumpster.
When Cullen stops by to talk to Eugene, he’s sure the gig is up—but all Cullen wants is a date. Can two things go right in Eugene’s life? At first it seems possible. Projects on Eugene’s house are getting completed by what he dubs “construction elves” while he’s off site. But like Eugene predicted, his good fortune can’t last, and soon he has a tough choice to make: give up his home… or the man of his dreams.

Ghostwriter of Christmas Past by TA Moore
Ever since ghostwriter Jason Burke ended up in loco parentis for his orphaned niece, Mallory, he’s been trying. He goes to parent/teacher events, and he makes packed lunches, so he definitely didn’t mean to forget about Christmas. He just hasn’t celebrated it since he left home under a cloud years ago.
Put on the spot, Jason makes the snap decision to take Mallory to see where he and her father spent their Christmases as kids. The last thing he expects is to run into Tommy, his ex—ex-best friend, ex-boyfriend—who is still living in town in town… and working as a sheriff’s deputy.
It’s hard to avoid someone in a small town—and maybe Jason doesn’t want to. He got Mallory a Christmas, and maybe now it’s time to get himself a Christmas boyfriend. But first, he owes Tommy some explanations.

Homemade from the Heart by Bru Baker
Craft store owner Grant has always been a sucker for a pretty face, and that goes double for a pretty face with an adorable sidekick. When seven-year-old Aubrey has her heart set on taking Grant’s already-full holiday craft series, he caves and gives up his one day off a week so she (and her hot guardian, Josh) can take private lessons. Their flirting ramps up week after week, and even though Josh isn’t with Aubrey’s mother, Grant can’t be sure the man isn’t straight. Maybe he’s just being friendly. And Josh, who most definitely is not straight, is afraid of being the creepy guy hitting on the teacher.
Frustrated by their stubbornness and cluelessness, Aubrey takes matters into her own hands. She decides the best gift to give Josh is something homemade and from the heart—a boyfriend they’ll both love.

Hope Is the Thing with Feathers by Brandon Witt
Fifty-six-year-old Samuel Phipps is all alone on his small farm in the Ozarks, with nothing but a menagerie of chickens, pheasants, turkeys, and other birds as company—which is just the way he likes it. In fact, if Samuel had his way, he’d tear down his neighbor’s house so his solitude could be absolute. One day Faloola, his favorite turkey, escapes, forcing Samuel to make the trek next door. When Raymond Webber—sixty-seven—answers the door as naked as the day he was born, Samuel doesn’t know whether he’s more annoyed… or attracted. The two men are opposites in every way—Samuel is serious, while Raymond believes in free love and herbal relaxation. The weeks leading up to Christmas are rocky to say the least, but some holiday spirit might help them get past their differences….

New Game, Start by C.S. Poe
Reclusive medieval scholar, Edgar Royal, has a crush. On a guy. Not a big deal, except that said guy, Walter Chase, is a famous online gamer who has no idea Edgar even exists. Edgar has harbored these feelings for nearly a year, and when Walter announces on Twitter that he’ll be visiting New York City as a guest at the GamerOn convention, Edgar decides he’ll be one of the thousands of fans who responds to the message.
He definitely doesn’t expect to be singled out by the humble, gorgeous, out-and-proud heartthrob. And when it comes to dealing with people, Edgar’s skills are pretty nonexistent. Even with Walter giving all the right signals, Edgar lacks the courage do anything about the mutual attraction growing through their online courtship. He’s always been better with the written word, so maybe the perfect Christmas gift will say what he cannot. But if Edgar can’t get the present to Walter before the convention ends, he may miss out on the boyfriend of a lifetime.

Pining for Perfect by Ki Brightly
Stokely leads a solitary life, trying to do all the right things. He has a solid, respectable job, a properly decorated, respectable apartment, and goes to work every single day, no matter what. But it’s Christmas, and he hates Christmas, especially since his one guilty pleasure, listening to Asher Banks on the radio, is ruined with upbeat, holiday garbage.
Asher is the polar opposite—he loves Christmas to a fault and schedules himself into the ground with fundraisers to help the local community. When Asher and Stokely meet during one of the holiday spectacles Asher has thrown together, sparks fly, but neither one of them has ever had a real Christmas—or a real home. Will they be able to make one with each other?

Poison Marked by TJ Nichols

A former thief who clawed his way into the palace from the filthy streets, Nikko longs to be deserving of Rodas’s love.
A respected war hero, Rodas is in a delicate political situation. He is not the kingdom’s natural heir, though many support his claim over the wastrel, Prince Fortin. The last thing Rodas wants is war. His highest ambition is for Nikko to openly wear the jewels he’s bestowed on him as a public declaration of their love.
Neither man is prepared for the king to order Nikko to poison Rodas during the solstice feast or for the deadly intrigue they’re plunged into, which exposes their affair and rocks the foundations of the kingdom.

Red Popcorn Strings and Gumball Rings by Nell Iris
Christmas is coming, and young couple Casey and Ellis are very much in love. Unfortunately, they’re also the definition of dirt poor, and they don’t have the money for nonessentials like decorations. When Ellis finds the saddest-looking Christmas tree south of the Mason-Dixon Line thrown away outside his workplace and brings it home to Casey, things look up. Life is still a struggle, but wealth isn’t always measured in money, and what seems worthless to others is often invaluable to the people who love it.

REVIEW
A spanky sexy collection of Sci-fi romance novellas. I've been excited about this genre since reading Cara Bristol's Sci-fi romance Breeder so I was so happy to discover this anthology. While some stories were better than others, they all interested me and had me checking the authors out on Goodreads to add to my TBR list. This anthology was a great read.

RATING
4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
This book was given to us through NetGalley. Many thanks.

WHITE WITCHMAS, book 4, Paris Texas Romance series by Dakota Cassidy
Cozy Meadows, a middle school music teacher, is a little low on holiday spirit this season. After being abandoned by her fiance, Finn Donovan months earlier, she's just not the same.

When her werewolf friend, Calla asks her to head up Hallow Moon Senior Center's Christmas recital for the Council of Elders and the members of town, she dives in head first. What better way to keep her mind busy while she tries to get over the hunky Finn?

Until Finn comes back to their hometown of Paris, Texas. Fresh from a stint in magic abuse prison, Finn behaves as though he didn't literally disappear the night of their engagement party. He's all smiles and still sexy as sin.

Cozy's got her hands full with the wily seniors who call themselves The Depends Patrol, and her feisty familiar Jorge as she tries to navigate the return of Finn and keep track of the seniors and their shennanigans.

But things get a whole lot worse when someone makes an attempt on her life. It's Christmas daggonit! Shouldn't killers take at least one day off a year?

Everything isn't as it seems, including a secret Cozy's kept most of her life. A secret that just may end up costing her that very life...

REVIEW: Anthologies are awesome ways to find new-to-you authors and reconnect with favorite characters or author's worlds. Ebook publishers have finally figured this out and package a spectrum of anthologies - everything from contemporary to urban fantasy, paranormal to historical and trust me when I say this is also a huge bargain for avid readers and romance fan girls (and guys) as they are usually under $3! Alphas Unwrapped delights readers with twenty-one (!) top notch paranormal authors penning all new stories with paranormal holiday flair.

White Witchmas, book 4 in the Paris Texas Romance series showcases what Dakota Cassidy does best: have you laughing, snorting, giggling and swooning over the sexy witty repartee between her hunky alpha warlock Finn and Cozy, the kind hearted witch he ditched at their anniversary party a year before. The level of snark is high, the sexy meter even higher. The host of madcap secondary characters makes for a story that flies by like the Christmas holidays. White Witchmas is the perfect winter's night read - as nice as Santa's cookies and as naughty as the spiked egg nog you wash it down with.

RATING: I give both White Witchmas and Alphas Unwrapped a tasty 4 delish chocolate covered strawberries! Live it up folks - it's Christmas!!!

Wild Angels #REVIEW of @Evernight #Anthology @RosalieStanton @Lily_Harlem @HelenaMaeve

Wild Angels Anthology

by Lily Harlem, Helena Maeve, Rosalie Stanton

Burning Rubber by Lily Harlem
When trouble rides into town, what girl can resist the ultimate bad boy?
Handling men isn’t an issue for me. I’m not a girly girl and my best friends are the machines I spend my days fixing, tweaking and servicing. So when the Wild Angels roll onto my forecourt and need my help, I’m happy to be of assistance.
But I’ve always been a magnet for trouble and when the leader of the pack, Gid, questions my ability, I can’t help the sassy backchat. Seems it doesn’t bother him too much and before I know it I’m climbing onto his beast and hanging on for the ride.
Bad ass guys like him don’t come without baggage, though, and it seems he wants to get rid of mine. Who am I to complain when it means revenge is hot, his body is hotter and we leave a trail of burning rubber as we head into the sunset? Biker girl, me? I guess it’s in the blood.
Reader Advisory: This book contains a scene involving mild breath play.

Witness by Rosalie Stanton
She’s the only thing good about his former life, and he’s been asked to end hers.
Serenity Jones never expected her homecoming to be heralded with a double-murder, or that she’d be the lone witness. Yet when she points the finger at the president of the Lucifer’s Legion Motorcycle Club, she finds herself the target of more than just an investigation—she’s a liability, one Lucifer’s Legion is determined to erase.
Dash Denyar owes everything to Lucifer’s Legion. A decade prior, he set himself on a path of self-destruction, and would have crashed and burned were it not for the motorcycle club. His loyalty was bought and paid for—he just never expected the price of loyalty to include ending the life of Serenity Jones, the only woman he ever loved.
Serenity has dreamed of her reunion with Dash ever since she left her hometown behind. Never did she imagine it would be on the other side of a blindfold, or with her life in the balance. As she tries to work out what happened to her childhood friend, she finds herself battling more than just survivor’s instinct. Ten years of unspoken feelings, regrets, and what-ifs threaten to break her, if Dash doesn’t do it first.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of kidnap, murder, references to drug use and suicide.

Grounds for Divorce by Helena Maeve
Overworked and jaded, Kayla is convinced she’s had her fill of bad boys when her boyfriend’s debts catapult her into a stranger’s arms.
A woman with a reputation, Kayla has long given up on true love. She’s thirty-three going on ninety-four, mother of one with a boyfriend who makes no secret of settling for her. When she’s not doing the books at the local strip club, she’s warming up the stage. Holding off the loan sharks is par for the course, until the night outlaw biker, Booker O’Connor, rolls into town.
Suddenly the bills come due and, in an act of desperation, Kayla’s boyfriend offers her up as payment for his debts to the motorcycle club. But their new leader has a reputation of his own.
Booker’s the real deal, from prison ink to bullet scars. No matter how sexy he may be or how much she’s growing to hate her boyfriend, Kayla has been with enough bad boys to know that she should fear callused hands and dangerous smiles. Striking out on her own seems like Kayla’s best option, but the Hell Hounds aren’t known for backing down quietly. She doesn’t expect Booker to give chase, much less discover that she doesn’t mind being caught by a man who can finally give her what she wants.
Reader Advisory: This book contains references to prostitution and sexual coercion.

REVIEW
Looking for little nibbles of erotic goodness? Read this anthology. Any book lover who indulges in MC romance will enjoy this anthology. Each story stands alone on its own merit, bringing another short romance to the full book. This is also good for someone wanting to try MC romance because each story has a different take on the lifestyle, like a sampler box of chocolates. Yum.

Hard Riders ANTHOLOGY #REVIEW @Totally_Bound

Hard Riders ANTHOLOGY
is a good read with fast living, hard riding and good loving.

Clear Blue Sky by Jenna Byrnes
Respect all, fear none is the Rebel Riders Motorcycle Club’s motto. Will the Riders step up when the Demon Outlaws go after one of their own?
Sky Warren doesn’t let the screen door smack him on the way out of Kansas. When his former abusive partner, Duke, is arrested for selling drugs, Sky takes off. He’s ready for a clean start and a change of scenery. Moving to Lakewood, Colorado with his cousin and accepting a job in Billy’s bike shop seems like just what he needs to start over. In Billy’s riding club he meets Task Rivers, a handsome, sexy biker and they hit it off immediately. Task is edgy, yet he shows Sky how a respectful and considerate man treats his partner. The two fall into a lusty, passionate relationship.
Death before dishonour. The Demon Outlaws have another way of looking at life. When Duke Lessing comes after Sky and is rebuffed, he joins the Outlaws in their troublemaking ways. With the Demons spoiling for a fight, Task calls on a few of the more hardcore Rebel Riders. As the night heats up, Sky is determined to avoid what seems like inevitable bloodshed. He wants to leave and lure the Demons away, but Task and the Rebel Riders have other ideas. Sky knows Duke doesn’t give up easily and learns that neither does Task, who’s fighting for what he wants. But will it be a fight to the death?

Mantrap by L.M. Somerton
Not all cages have bars.
The Wyverns Motorcycle Club has a reputation as fierce as its dragon emblem. Its enigmatic leader, Rogue Hellaby, has a police file so thick you could prop up a table with it. The qualifications for membership are a reckless disregard for authority and the attitude of a spitting cobra. But The Wyverns MC is not quite what it seems. All the riders have dubious histories in the military or the police—now they just serve and protect their own interests and those of Horatio Trap, the manipulative bastard who recruited them.
When Rogue receives an instruction to kidnap and hold hostage the son of a powerful drug lord, he doesn’t bat an eyelid. But Rogue has never had to deal with a captive like Orlando de la Pena. Orlando is furious—not because he’s being held prisoner, but because he’s prevented from partying at his favourite BDSM club. Rogue discovers that the only way to deal with Orlando is to become the Dom he so obviously needs. But Orlando’s father wants him back, and The Wyverns must face a battle that could cost them their lives.

Biking Bad by Morticia Knight
When Dylan, a young wannabe investigator, stumbles into the Mojave Sidewinder’s MC bar he finds all kinds of trouble—especially in biker Luc ‘Zero’ Villarojas.
The Mojave Sidewinders is the largest gay MC club in Southern California. They’re also one-percenters, which makes them alluring to those looking for trouble and a danger to those making it. Luc ‘Zero’ Villarojas has been a brother ever since the club’s prez took him in as a runaway. At thirty-four years of age, he’s content to ride his hog, chase tail and run his tattoo and piercing parlor, Zero to Sixty.
Dylan has had to take care of himself since his aunt died when he was still a teen. Even though he’s barely twenty-two years old, the small spitfire has made his way in the world as best as he can and has even started his own would-be investigative agency. He’s proud of himself, even if his agency is on the edge of town in a ramshackle building.
Working his first big case, involving a missing young man, Dylan barges into Road Rage, the Mojave Sidewinder’s exclusive bar, and starts asking questions. When it looks as though he’s about to get beaten up, a large, muscled biker covered in ink comes to his aid. Dylan’s incredibly attracted to him—even if Zero is pretty scary and Dylan’s still a virgin. But is there something Zero knows about the missing man that he’s hiding? And is Dylan in more danger than he realises?

REVIEW & RATING
This anthology is a hot read with three sexy m/m biker stories. These men are crazy delicious and their stories will keep readers flipping pages. With each being short enough to enjoy in an afternoon, each story is like a little yummy snack to enjoy in one sitting.

Lights, Camera, Cupid! @authorSEJakes @amymaclane @AnneTenino @GallagherWitt @ZAMaxfield @RiptideBooks #REVIEW #ULTIMATEINDULGENCE

Light's, Camera, Cupid! By S.E. Jakes, Amy Lane, Z.A. Maxfield, Anne Tenino, L.A. Witt, Riptide Publishing
Bluewater Bay #6
Cupid is visiting Bluewater Bay, and he’s leaving chaos in his wake.

Nothing’s been the same in this sleepy little logging town since Hollywood came to shoot the hit TV show Wolf’s Landing—especially Valentine’s Day.

In L.A. Witt’s Just Another Day, beloved actors Levi Pritchard and Carter Samuels have an announcement for their fans, while in Z.A. Maxfield’s I’ll Be There, actor Spencer Kepler and his boyfriend Nash Holly brave a blizzard and a fan convention to spend their first February the 14th together.

Of course, it’s not just TV stars celebrating the day. In Anne Tenino’s Helping Hand, an aspiring artist eager to escape Bluewater Bay decides he just might have a reason to stay: lust-inspiring logger Gabriel Savage. In S.E. Jakes’s No Easy Way, a local teacher reconnects with an old lover working security on the film set. And in Amy Lane’s Nascha, a Bluewater Bay elder recalls how his own unconventional family used to celebrate the holiday.

Real life may be nothing like TV, but when Cupid comes to town, there’s plenty of romance and drama to go around.

REVIEW:
Just Another Day
Leiv Pritchard does not do Valentines! He hates the commercialism and the forced feeling of it all. But when he realizes that his attitude has hurt Carter's feelings he knows he needs to make it up to him.  And learns there is nothing better than make up sex.

Nascha
Oh Amy, why must you rip my heart out every time?? This felt very much like a prelude to a full book and when I checked the Riptide site I saw that it is. Here is hoping that this unconventional family can find happiness.

No Easy Way
Cary was only 16 when Dylan joined the military and broke his heart. Now, 6 years later Dylan is back and determined to make Cary forgive him. Can the two work through the betrayal and the anger to find their way back? With the help of a certain sexy book they just might!

Helping Hand
I was so loving this story of Lucas, a high school senior who is coming to terms with the fact that he is gay, until the ending. O M H Please tell me that this is another character introduction??

There were so many great moments in this book. What could have been a horrible coming out turned out to be a great way to show a connection between Lucas and his dad.

Maybe Lucas just needs to grow up some and this story will pick back up then.

I'll Be There
I liked the two MC's in this story and the determination of Nash to make it to Spencer despite the odds against him, but I have to say that I really wanted to know more about Healey and his band of nerds! Although I think my favorite part of the story is how many time Spencer is mistaken for several other British actors.

I had not read any of the Bluewater Bay books before starting this anthology, but have since bought all of the books in the series. I am looking forward to reading them all!

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.  This book was given to us by the author. Many thanks.

These brand-new novellas feature all branches of the service and offer something for every reader. Almost 300,000 never before published words!

Character interview with Parker from Cruise Control by Kerry Adrienne

Where did you grow up?

I grew up right here in Centerville, Georgia. This land’s been in my family for generations, though that made no difference to my parents. When I was four, they took off for parts unknown and left me here with Gramma and Grandpa.

Tell us about the first time you met. Was it love at first sight?

(laughs) When I first met Blake, I thought he was the hottest man, no, hottest jerk I’d ever seen. Definitely not love at first sight, though I will admit that I admired his looks way before I ever got to know his heart.

What drew you to each other?

A car. Can you believe that?

What is your favorite part of him?

Well, besides the obvious, I love Blake’s “command voice”. He slips into it occasionally, often when he’s stressed or anxious. He’ll bark an order then realize he’s not in the service any more. I think it’s adorable.

Do you love a challenge? If so, how do you handle it?

I love mechanical challenges, not people challenges. I’ll take a broken airplane engine or car any day, but stay away from me if you’ve got drama. With a machine, I can work through issues methodically and with a good chance of success. People aren’t so simple.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Our family has a special place out behind the farmhouse in the woods. It’s the only place I don’t need noise to calm me. When I’m there by the stream, I’m able to wrangle problems into submission—or at least perspective.

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

When you have a family farm, you don’t take many vacations. One of the few trips I remember was to Hatteras Island. With the tall dunes, miles of beaches, and water all around—I can’t think of a better place to relax.

Excerpt from CRUISE CONTROL:

The passenger door opened and a man’s deep voice rang out, “You won’t touch it.” The man stepped out of the truck. “Unless I am directing you. Clear?”

Parker licked his lips, Maserati forgotten. Maybe if the porn magazines had men like this specimen, he’d have at least peeked. Tall and muscular, the man seemed to have stepped off the pages of his imagination.

“Did you hear me?” The man put his hands on his hips.

Parker nodded and took a wobbly step. A Maserati and a hot man? More excitement than he’d seen on a Friday night since he’d been home. Maybe ever.

The man smiled, and Parker flushed. A moment later, the smile was gone and the man was all business.

“Blake Best.” He stuck out his hand. “This is my car, Leon.”

Parker took Blake’s large hand and held on while the other man shook for both of them. He looked into Blake’s blue eyes, or were they brown? He couldn’t tell in the half-light, but whatever their color, they were framed by gorgeous dark lashes matching Blake’s cropped, dark hair.

“P-Parker Monteith.”

“Good to meet you.” Blake squeezed his hand. “I’m making it clear up front. You don’t touch my car unless I say so.”

“Hey, I gotta get to another call,” the tow truck driver yelled. “Let’s get this showboat off my truck.” He pushed a button and the truck bed squealed lower.

Parker looked down. He was still holding Blake’s hand. He pulled away and cleared his throat. “Help get this car into the garage so I can take a look.”

Blake headed to the truck bed and Parker followed. Parker couldn’t help but watch Blake’s ass. Clad in thick jeans, it was difficult to tell exactly how firm it was or its exact shape, but damn, it was the first exciting ass he’d seen in forever.

“Be careful, that’s my baby,” Blake called.

“Huh?” Parker’s face flamed, and then he realized the man was talking about the car. Oh my God, the car. It sat, or did it float, on the truck bed, a vision in creamy white with dark shadows spiraling along its side. It’s black top was closed, but Parker knew exactly what the car looked like with the top down. He stuck his hands in his pockets. Yeah, it was just a car, but oh, what a car it was.

“Stand back!” The tow truck driver unlatched the last of the wheel lashings and pushed the button to extend the winch.

Blake turned toward Parker. “I can’t watch.”

“He knows what he’s doing.”

A loud screech sounded. Blake cringed and whirled toward the tow truck driver. “What in the hell?”

“Calm down. Your precious car is fine.” The driver lowered the front end of the car then released the winch.

They pushed the car into the garage without a problem, though Blake insisted they wear cotton gloves, which he provided from the trunk. In the stark garage lights, the white car appeared even brighter, like a gleaming star, lit from within. Blake fussed over the car, running his hand along the body and cupping the headlight and squeezing.

“Sign for it.” The tow truck driver shoved his clipboard under Parker’s nose.

Parker signed for receipt of the car and the driver capped his pen and stuck it back in his pocket.

“He’s your problem now.”

Parker gathered he wasn’t talking about the car.

Blurb:

Retired soldier Blake Best drives hard—his car, his life, and his choices. Former Airman ParkerMonteith is fighting to keep his life on cruise control so he doesn’t lose it all.

One Maserati brings them together. Can Blake slow down enough to discover the important things aren't in the fast lane?

REVIEW:

This was a fantastic bundle and well worth the read. There are several stories in here that I would love to see the characters revisited in full length novels. These were great teasers that whet my appetite and left me wanting more. Like with most anthologies some stories are stronger than others and the stories where the MC's had some sort of history worked better for me. The variety that you get with this bundle is incredible from all the different branches of the military, some active and some retired, some dealing with wounds and/or PTSD, there is truly something for everyone.

Cruise Control - Kerry Adrienne
So I am pretty sure that everyone that reads this story will start out thinking that Blake is an ass! He does redeem himself a bit but I had a hard time rooting for him. Parker is wonderful but so lonely it made my heart ache.

Resilient Heart - Annabeth Albert
This one was definitely one where I wanted to know more. Xander has basically given up after he is injured, he is angry and scared and lashes out at everyone. But Mackay won't let him give up. Real emotions and their consequences made this a hard read but so worth it.

Arctic Fire - Kiera Andrews
This was a bit of a slow start for me but once the story got going it was over too soon. I would love to see a sequel that deals with the base opening and how Jack and Kin make their relationship work.

Storm Out - Brit Blaise
Because of the short length of these stories there isn't a lot of room for secondary characters but this one had my favorite. Cowboy's grandfather Boss was a fun character that really brought a lot to this story. I will definitely be seeking out more of the books in the series that this novella is a part of.

Civilian Master - Cassandra Carr
When I read through the blurbs for each story this is the one that jumped out at me and once again Cassandra Carr did not disappoint. Clay's need to submit reads very real. I loved the way that Flynn took him in hand but also made sure that Clay knew what he was getting into before anything started. I would love to see how their relationship grows and all the ways that Flynn brings Clay to submission.

His Guarded Heart - Lia Davis
Really loved this story from beginning to way too soon ending. Unfortunately when you are dealing with stories of this length whenever there are errors they really stand out, and this story had quite a few editing errors.  Aside from that the characters were engaging and the action made for a quick read. I would love to read more about Beau and Judd and of course Angel.

Hometown Hero - Sasha Devin
JJ and Colin were adorable. This was a sweet short read that I enjoyed immensely.

Blood & Peyote - Rhi Etzweiler
I found this story interesting but a little hard to follow with the mix of, I think, Norse and American Indian rituals. This kind of information needed more than the pages it was allowed. It was beautifully written but hard to understand.

Desert Heat - Lucy Felthouse
Work romances are hard but trying to start a romance in the middle of a war zone is even harder. This was a nice story of two men possibly finding something more.

The Houseboy: Initiation - Amelia C Gormley
Wow. This one was very different from the other stories in this anthology. Intense is the first word that comes to mind. Well written but a little rough for my tastes.

The Only One Who Cares - Cat Grant
Wonderful story of an established couple who are dealing with some major life changes. Navy SEALs and diapers!

Irresistible Forces - Em Lynley
This was a new author for me but one I will most definitely be on the look out for more. Emotional and very satisfying!

Flight Risk - LA Witt
Good story but it would have been so much better if it had been longer. It needed just a bit more to feel fully flushed out. I hope to read more for these characters.

REVIEW:

Cat Johnson has become this reader's go-to gal for military genre romance.  She portrays her heroes with respect and dignity, while reminding us why we love a man in uniform!    Night with a Seal, the lead in to her new romantic suspense series, introduces readers to a new group of Alpha males to swoon and sigh over. And even better, this particular story is one of a dozen amazing military romances bundled for sale on Amazon later this month (did I mention it was $0.99!!!!!).

Jon and Ali were an interesting choice for the kick off of this series.  Jon is classic military: squared away, focused on the job, all about the team.  But a July 4th party at a former teammates house gives him a glimpse of what life on the outside might look like. Something he'd never considered before meeting Ali.  Ali had heard all about her friend's brother and his teammates but never suspected the "set up" Darci intended would be "the One".  The thing about military life - timing is key.  And Jon and Ali have some issues with timing....thankfully not with chemistry!  Hoo boy - fan and ice water time!

The Seal team members will obviously be the heroes of future books in this series - and they are a wild bunch!  Great secondary characters and intense story lines promise each and every story will be filled with all the action and passion Cat Johnson is known for.  For those of you who haven't read Ms. Johnson, do yourselves a favor and grab a copy and go to town this Fourth of July!  And those of you who know....what are you waiting for?  Hot Alpha Seals, indeed!  (Pre-order your copy - what a steal!!)

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries!  This book was given to us by the author. Many thanks.

CONTEST: Leave a comment for a chance at an ebook copy from Cat's Red Hot & Blue series or her self pub military eBooks (Crossing the Line, Cinderella Liberty) from her backlist.
