Embracing Need by Silvia Violet

Heading off to Romfest in Gatlinburg, TN, tomorrow. I have never been to this area before and I am really looking forward to it. This will be Paloma Beck's first conference as an author and to say she is a bit nervous would be an understatement. Seeing this got me to thinking about just how many authors are also introverts. We as fans always just assume that authors can't wait to be in a room full of adoring fans, but for most this isn't the case. Writing is basically a solitary endeavor and that makes them happy...to be in their little cocoon lost in the worlds that they have created. So remember this the next time that  you meet your favorite author...they are probably just as nervous and scared as you are.

I will be back next week with stories from Romfest!

Embracing Need, Silvia Violet
Wild R Farm #3
Horse shifter, Tristan Hayes, doesn’t believe in relationships. He believes in hot, sweaty one-night stands that leave him aching for days.

Private investigator, Wesley James, is looking for someone to settle down with, but it’s never occurred to him that someone could be a man.

Tristan loves a good game, so he flirts with Wes, never thinking anything serious will come of his attraction. Wes fends him off, but after three months of cat and mouse, both men are worn out from fighting what they feel.

When a young woman from Tristan’s herd goes missing, he asks for Wes’s help. Tristan keeps up his flirtatious façade until Wes calls his bluff, taking him out for dinner and dancing. As they search for the missing shifter, Tristan struggles to believe Wes could care for the man Tristan hides beneath his abrasive exterior.

So let me just start by saying how much I LOVE this cover. Beautiful and totally fulfilled the images of Tristan and Wes in my mind.

Tristan is that person that always has a snappy comeback and it's almost always sexual. He is fun loving and just out to have a good time and nobody gets hurt. Ok, so that's the Tristan that he want's you to believe he is. In reality he has been hurt and has a wall higher and thicker than that Great Wall of China around his heart. At times it was painful watching him come to terms with his feelings and other times it was comical.

Wes doesn't really understand his attraction to Tristan, for one thing he isn't gay...right? But he can't seem to get the sexy shifter off his mind so he is going to take a chance and see where things go. Now if he can just get Tristan to stop running.

You have to be careful with "gay for you" stories because if you don't get the attraction and the emotions right it just doesn't work. Silvia Violet does a great job of making those feelings seem real and genuine.
There is also a great balance of re-visiting past couples and introducing new characters to move the story and time line along.

If you enjoyed the first two stories in this series then I am sure you love Embracing Need which is in my opinion the strongest of the series so far.

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.  This book was given to us by the author. Many thanks.
