Liz Everly, Like Honey, eKensington, April 2014

Wanted: A Hot Honey of a Man

Love brought Jennifer D’Amico to Scotland, but it’s honey that makes her stay. Her honey farm is all the beautiful widow has left of her brief marriage. All she needs is a master beekeeper to get the flailing business back on track. What she gets is Grayson McGhilly, a boldly sexy stranger who knows his honey–almost as well as he knows how to bring Jennifer to the brink of passion. . ..

From the moment Gray lays eyes on Jennifer, he’s hooked, mind and body. But his mission isn’t just to savor every succulent inch of her, but to keep her from harm. For Gray isn’t just a beekeeper, but an undercover agent investigating criminal activity at her farm. And now he’ll do just about anything to keep the sweet and oh-so-satisfying Jennifer safe in his arms. . ..

Oh how do I love thee, Ms. Everly?  Let me count the ways.....Like chocolate, like spice, like honey....  For those who love food with sex, or sex with food, Liz Everly has some stories for you! Some may call it culinary romance - I think that doesn't begin to touch the adventure, mystery, passion and romance of the Saffron Nights series.

Spies, undercover agents, mystery, intrigue, sex and love - these are the incredibly sexy ingredients tossed together and artfully arranged to create Like Honey!   Jennifer, hard working publishing drone of previous stories, finds brief happiness after being jilted by Sanj (between books 1&2) and then whirlwind courting and marriage to Ren (between books 2 and 3).  Now a widow, inheriting her husband's family bee business in the highlands of Scotland, Jennifer struggles to make a success of a failing enterprise.  Gray has a mission, by edict of his former lover, to investigate the possible illicit activities of her farm.  They meet mysteriously at the Mead Maker's ball, masked for an encounter hinting at full blown passion, which pulls at them throughout the novel.  Readers will hang on each page waiting to see when the pieces will fall into place.  Mystery and danger surround Jennifer and Gray manages to save her time and again.  Who doesn't love a hero like that?

A few things always stand out for me with Ms. Everly's writing.  It is always amazingly well crafted.  Words are like food ingredients - perfectly combined and arranged to create mystery, flavor and drama.  Characters have depth and dialogue is clever, pulling the reader in deeper to the suspense of the story and the passion of Jennifer and Gray's romance.  And the sensuality of her character - unashamed of their sexuality - makes for highly enjoyable and intensely erotic moments peppering the storyline.  For those fans of multi-layered romances, contemporary and romantic suspense, Like Honey will tantalize your taste buds to be sure!

RATING: 4 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries and some honey cakes and mead!  This book was provided by the author for an unbiased review.  Many thanks!!
