Guest Interview, Tracie Ingersoll Loy

Welcome and Meet Tracie Ingersoll Loy -

Tracie Ingersoll Loy grew up in the Pacific Northwest and graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts which included creative writing and acting.  Upon graduation, her college friend proclaimed they must learn how to drink Scotch to be liberated women, so she did!  Tracie ducked out of the corporate world of marketing and sales, where she saw lots of romantic interludes taking place, to pursue her passion for writing.  Her current work, SLIP INTO THE NIGHT, is her first book in the Hartz Island romantic mystery series taking place in the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest, a location dear to her heart.

Tracie now lives in Northern Illinois with her husband and two dogs, a sassy cock-a-poo and a determined border collie. To think about her writing day, and to indulge the dogs, Tracie takes them walking/running up at the Chain-of-Lakes St. Park where there are miles and miles of trails.  She is an active member of the Chicago North Romance Writers.

What is your indulgence?  Dipping Pepperidge Farm Mint Milano’s in Single Malt Scotch!

How long have you been writing?  Technically for five years when my daughter headed off to college, but in reality in my brain forever.  In the corporate world of marketing and sales I traveled a lot and in doing so, I would always look at people, places and scenarios.  It’s amazing what you see in airports, hotel lobbies, conventions and bars.  I would create stories as I drove the company car and/or sat on the airplane.

Why did you pick your main character Jeannie to be in her 40’s?   As I matured so did my characters.  What I witnessed in the aging process is love, excitement, heated sex, doesn’t change with age!  I listened to my girlfriends talk about dating and it wasn’t that much different from our twenties.  Clothes go flying off no matter your age.  Maybe a little faster now.

SLIP INTO the NIGHT isn’t just a romance.  Tell us more?  It is a combination of romantic mystery but also a journey for my main characters that they must overcome.  With Jeannie it was learning to love again, but also believe in herself as a business woman.  She had a cafĂ© to run and needed to overcome that obstacle.  With Kip, he just didn’t want to take a risk at love.  I do love a good mystery but I also love a great romance.  E-books allow us to have a couple of stories going on at the same time.

Where can we buy Slip Into the Night?  Slip Into the Night may be purchased directly from Musa Publishing, or any of the major E-book retailers. It is $4.99.
Amazon does feature the first 6 chapters as a FREE read to anyone.

What are you working on now?  The sequel, DARK AS THE NIGHT.  Mysteries are solved, relationships sealed, and clothes are ripped off in heated sex.
