Set in the time between City of Ashes and City of Glass, warlock Magnus Bane is determined to find the best birthday present possible for Alec Lightwood, the Shadowhunter he may or may not be dating. And he’s also got to deal with the demon he’s conjured up for a very irritating client…
Starting your day off in your black silk pj pants with tigers and dancing flamingos RULES! Plus a Fleetwood Mac reference automatic A+! I thought maybe the rest of this short series would be darker leading up to the current but birthday shopping for Alec got thrown in. I think I found this book amusing because I found myself in the same situation recently. What do I buy him? Although I feel nunchakus would be an awesome gift others may not agree. In the end Magnus and I both got the job done.
I give this book 5 chocolate dipped strawberries and house shoes to go with his pj pants. And if a friend asks you to be a pirate with them you say yes!

The Last Stand of The New York Institute by Cassnadra ClareIn the time of the Uprising, Valentine’s Circle goes after Downworlders in New York...and the Shadowhunters of the Institute must decide whether to join him, or fight with Magnus and his kind. This is the first time Magnus sees Jocelyn, Luke, and Stephen—but not the last. It is not long before Jocelyn seeks him out...
And this sums it up..... This is where you get a peek at how twisted Valentine has got and where his followers start to doubt him. It also starts the relationship between Jocelyn and Magnus and the roll he plays in the Mortal Instrument series. LOVED this mini series!
