DON"T FORGET TO VOTE!!!

Today is election day here in the US, and while I am not going to inundate you with my thoughts on who you should vote for I am going to encourage you to please vote. Just remember if you don't vote...you don't get to BITCH....and there is no way I am giving up my right to bitch!

Now on to some Highland Hotness!!! The sixth book in Monica McCarty's Highland Guard series came out last week and I was so all over that! This is one of my favorite historical series out there. The only problem that I have with reading Scottish historical's is that after I read one, I don't wanna leave I just want to spend the next week or so reading another and another but I am running out of books to read. So if you have a favorite author or series from that genre please make a comment and let me know who or what they are...who knows maybe I haven't read it yet!

The Recruit, Monica McCarty, Ballentine Books
Highland Guard #6
Fiery, aggressive, and bold, Kenneth Sutherland is a true champion—skilled with any weapon and driven to win. Now Kenneth is ready for his greatest challenge: joining Robert the Bruce’s secret army to fight among the elite. Kenneth’s best chance to attain that honor is by winning the Highland Games. Focused and prepared for victory, he is caught off guard by a lovely wisp of a woman—and a stolen moment of wicked seduction. Her innocent arousal and her shameless hunger fire his blood. He will win his place in the guard—and in Mary of Mar’s bed.
The ruggedly handsome hero-in-the-making stirs a heart that should know better. Mary vows that her surrender will be sport only—no promises, no heartbreak, just one night of incredible passion. Nothing, she swears, will persuade her to give up her hard-wrought independence and put her fate in the hands of another powerful man. But with every gentle touch and heart-pounding kiss, Kenneth makes her want more. Now Mary wants his heart. But is this determined champion willing to surrender everything for love?

I love that all of Monica McCarty's female character's are strong and fight not only for their men but with them as well. Her male character's epitomize the sexy, strong, alpha hero's that I love. This 6th book in the Highland Guard series is as strong as the first and the story line is original and fast paced.

Kenneth Sutherland wants to be a part of Bruce's secret guard and all he has to do for a spot is win the highland games so nothing is going to get in his way. Until he meets a woman who snags his attention and stirs a passion in him like never before.

Mary has been burned by love before. She loved her first husband and thought he was the hero of her dreams but when he leaves her again and again to go off to fight for fame and in the process puts her life and their sons life in danger when he is caught and executed for treason, she vows never to depend on a man again.

When these two come together in what they both think will be just for a night their lives will never be the same.

Ms. McCarty does of fabulous job of weaving fact and fiction into her stories and I always walk away feeling like I have read not only a great love story but a great historical novel as well. Her character's feel real and I become invested in them quite quickly. I like that we also get glimpses of the character's from past books but she always leaves you wondering who's story is going to be next.

This is a well written series that I would suggest to anyone who is looking for something with that epic feel!

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.
