Three Broken *Happy New Year* Promises @MsMonicaMurphy #REVIEW

Happy New Year!
This year has been a read-alicious year for me. I challenged myself  to read 320 books but surpassed it with 332 books read. That's 104%! Woo Hoo! I think what really pushed my reading numbers was branching out to include New Adult into my reading repertoire. 63 of my books read in 2013 were NA. I fell fast, I admit it, because when I checked on Goodreads, these books ranked the highest on my ratings. And since they all seemed to come in series, I couldn't stop at just one! Check out my personal Goodreads reviews/ ratings here.

So, with that focus on the New Adult genre, let me share a few favorite series... click on them to read the review I posted throughout 2013. Then read the review of my final New Adult read of 2013.

Beautiful by Jamie McGuire
Beautiful Disaster, Walking Disaster, A Beautiful Wedding

Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Now, my last New Adult read for 2013 was THREE BROKEN PROMISES, book three in the Drew & Fable series. Breakout New Adult sensation Monica Murphy returns with a hot new contemporary romance—a heartfelt story of second chances, forgiveness, and redemption.

BLURB
Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.

I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.

REVIEW
After meeting the two main characters in the second book of the series, it was only fitting that Jen and Colin got their own story. While the book is part of Drew and Fable's series, the story was unique and entirely their own. While there were cameos of past characters, the focus remained on the building of a new relationship and the demons from the past that can get in your way. The story was poignant and revealed the evolution of love just as it happens. Everything about the story felt authentic. Such a good love story that's not to be missed.
