Humpday Hello to Dakota Cassidy #Review

Greetings and salutations my hump day nation!  Glad to see you safely made it to the last quarter of 2013 (I know, shut my dirty mouth, right?!).  While those of you in Kim's camp are mourning summer (it's 80 degrees here in Virginia for cripe's sake, stop whining), the rest of you feel free to join me in the joy of autumn - changing leaves, big fat pumpkins, giant bags of chocolate on sale.....you know you love October!

Speaking of October - don't forget (yes, here comes the nurse spiel) to take care of your Breast Friends - Breast Cancer awareness month is upon us. It is not enough to wear the cute pink t-shirt and put the pink ribbon on your car window - you have to remember to check the girls, every month, without fail! Finding things that go bump in the night can be a bad thing.  Finding cancer early enough to fight it is a good thing!

Ok - serious stuff done. Now for the good stuff.  On to more fabulousness... don't forget to stop and have a bite of this weeks delish, calorie free eye-candy.  (Holy shamoly - it may be cold enough for a sweater but mama needs a fan!)  Yummmmmm

We hope you are enjoying this month's book club selection - The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy.  Join us daily and comment to win an ARC of her next installment, The Accidental Werewolf 2 - There's Something About Harry (which is technically book number 8 - don't get hung up on the number 2 people).  Seriously - this is an amazing prize....not due to release until December 2013!  That's a super treat for Accidental fans, I'm telling you!

The Accidental Werewolf, Dakota Cassidy, Berkely
Accidentally Friends #1

When Marty Andrews gets bitten by a mangy mutt while walking her teacup poodle, her blond hair darkens, the hair on her legs starts growing at an alarming rate, and her mood swings put her dream job as a sales rep for Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics in serious jeopardy.

Then a drool-worthy man shows up at her door claiming that he accidentally bit Marty. And since he's a werewolf, she is now, too. Thinking Keegan Flaherty is clearly insane, Marty refuses to believe a word until a kidnapping makes her realize there's more at stake than just her highlights. And she must put her out-of-control life in the hands of the man who makes her blood run wild in more ways than one...

REVIEW:

Imagine yourself tucked into bed, reading a delicious new-to-you paranormal romance and you start laughing - out loud even and then turn the page and reach for the ice water as Mr. Knows He's Fabulous makes his move on Ms. I Don't Think So (But I really do)...Behold, my friends, a new series to love. With the Accidental series, Dakota Cassidy pens the kind of story that grabs the reader's interest from the blurb on the back cover and holds it until the last page is turned.  And she's hilarious while doing it.  For those who have trouble with world building, it's pretty straight forward - get bitten by a werewolf and you become a werewolf.  And did I mention it's hilarious?

Her madcap heroine, Marty, delivers a classic Katherine Hepburn performance complete with screw ball antics, bungling bad guys and inappropriate appendage appearances.  The complete and utter decline of the type A makeup maven wannabe after her lupine encounter is classic comedy.  The all out war waged for a proper happily ever after is comedy gold.   The supporting cast keeps the laughs and story moving and thankfully Nina and Wanda have their own shots at the limelight in their subsequent stories (books 2 and 3). Truthfully though, the romance between Marty Andrews and Keegan Flaherty sizzles on the page with their verbal sparring and his steadfast determination to make her his.

This book club selection came about because our little group of eight is about as diverse and eclectic as they come.  In an effort to strike a balance, we chose the elements that we all agreed we enjoyed (not everyone likes the spanky goodness of BDSM or the angsty drama of YA or New Adult).  Strong heroine, check. Hunky alpha male, check.  Humor and action, check and check. Pretty much everyone likes paranormal but not many like the darkness of urban fantasy so again, right fit.  Happily pretty much everyone enjoyed it - funnily enough, everyone had different favorite parts.  That's the beauty of book club!  Personally, I enjoyed the author's voice - Marty is pretty much a total hot mess.  Someone that self-involved should be unappealing but she comes across as so endearing you just have to laugh along with her.  Wanda and Nina along with Keegan's siblings provide enough balance to keep the story from pitching off into a complete farce (mostly).

For those who like a little comedy with their romance or a little romance with their comedy, the Accidental series should be your cup of tea.  Well written, full of sass and sarcasm, this series has seriously hot moments and enough plot twists and clever characters that readers will continue to stay accidentally hooked on this series. Check out the rest of the Accidental series covers below....

Regardless of your "season",  Accidentally Friends series looks great on any nightstand!!!

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.
