Bite Me by Shelly Laurenston @NetGalley #REVIEW #ARC

Family in all it's flawed glory!

Bite Me, Shelly Laurenston, Brava
Pride Series #9
Livy Kowalski has no time for idiots. When you shapeshift into a honey badger, getting through life’s irritants is a finely honed skill. Until she gets stuck housing her nutso cousin and dealing with her dad’s untimely and unexplained demise.

That’s where Vic Barinov comes in—or his house does. Vic can’t step outside without coming back to find Livy devouring his honey stash and getting the TV remote sticky. It gets his animal instincts all riled up. But he’ll have to woo her at high speed: all hell is breaking loose, and Livy is leading the charge…

REVIEW:
*CAUTION DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU HAVE BROKEN RIBS, HAVE RECENTLY HAD ABDOMINAL SURGERY OR YOU NEED TO PEE AS THE LAUGHTER THAT THIS BOOK WILL INCITE COULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO YOUR HEALTH AND DRY PANTS.*

Nine books in and this series is still going strong. Shelly Laurenston hits another one out of the park with her pairing of honey badger (yes I said honey badger) Livy Kowalski and bear/tiger hybrid Vic Barinov.

Livy isn't your typical honey badger, and her parents couldn't be more disappointed. They look at her honesty as a weakness and can't figure out where they went wrong. Thankfully Livy has always had Toni Jean-Louise Parker and her family and very few select friends. She is going to need those friends when her father is murdered and Livy goes looking for a killer.

Vic is another interesting hybrid and I have to say that his two animals were probably the most distinct of any that I have read to date. This might be because his two animals are so different and his reactions depend on which animal is in charge. But the one thing that comes through about Vic more than anything else is his loyalty. That's why he and Livy work so well together, he gives her something she has never had before and he knows where the good honey can be found!(and I don't mean that in a sexual way at all)

Livy's family reminded me of an episode of Gypsy Sisters and you know that's a crock pot o' hot mess in the best possible way. And mixing that thieving lot with Vic's very straight laced, practically law enforcement family is a recipe for a hit reality show.

While the MC's in Laurenston's  books are always the focal point I have to be honest and tell you that I come back again and again for the secondary characters. I just can't wait to see how this motley crew is going to come together and seeing the interaction between the species, each with their unique quirks is the foundation that makes these books work for me. Be it the lazy, it's all about me lions or the hyper everyone has to get along and party together wolf-wilddog, or the honey loving bears and slightly psychotic wolfs I know when I pick up one of these books that it's going to be a good time.

If you have not checked out this series what are you waiting for?? How many times do I have to tell you to buy this series??  Now....Go.BUY.IT!

RATING: 5 Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries.  This book was given to us by NetGalley. Many thanks.
